WB to acquire Flixster/Rotten Tomatoes

well that sucks.Second strike against WB today.

That is a big conflict of interest. I didnt know studios could own movie review sites. Sure some reviewers get bribes from studios from time to time but this is on a whole nother level. So if clash of the titans 2 gets a 100% rating should we be alittle suspicious?

i actually think it'd be difficult for WB to interfere with the site for their own benefit and not have it be entirely noticeable by users. which would then make the site useless and WB's millions wasted. They stand to profit more by letting it continue doing what it does.

wb has no other reason to take over RT other than to interfere lol

you mean other than the fact that the site generates a profit which WB would like to acquire and build on?

I highly doubt they'll interfere. If their movie is getting a fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and yet on another site that collects reviews, like Metacritic, it's getting a low overall percentage then the bias is going to become fairly obvious really quick. I see this as just being a way to easily make a small profit. The worst thing you're going to see is an abundance of WB film ads on the site.

Oh no! This is just like when that evil Disney company bought super cool Marvel, not to make money, but to heavily interfere by forcing the production of all those Iron Man/Mickey Mouse crossovers! Ugghh!

Wait...

you mean other than the fact that the site generates a profit which WB would like to acquire and build on?

Pretty much this.

I highly doubt they want this site just to give their films good reviews. They're most likely going to just buy it for the profit as Motown stated, not force critics to give rave reviews to their films.

You guys are aware that Disney owned Siskel & Ebert / Ebert & Roeper for like 20 years. This is nothing new.
