Okay, so if there's a high or low pressure system directly above my city, the weather's pretty calm, right? You only get storms and stuff when warm & and cold air mix... as in when a front is moving in... right?

Just curious because right now there's a high pressure system above Calgary, but it snowed today... I don't get it! :huh:
 
well the weathers crazy like that. You can really never predict what's gonna happen. The radio and tv's might say one thing and it does anothr outside.

I think they call it a dirty high where there is a little instability in it...... which means some cloud and even some precipitation, just no real organized low pressure system. Could also be the heating of the sun, something off the mountains or a body of water........
 
All i know is that it's been raining in and around the Boston area for about 5 or 6 days.
 
I can't believe this thread got revived... I feel dirty inside. :(
