I got a tube that lets me transfer propellant from one can to the other.

Right on. I hope that that project is successful for you. I know that in the travel section of target, they have small concealable aerosol cans of shaving cream. That might be something to look into.

So guys, this is going to come across as very rude, but it only has the best of intentions behind it. Anyone who wants to invent a web shooter to go swinging around needs to get off this forum. It's not because it's crazy, but it's because adhesives don't take very well without a setting period. Also, I don't want anyone to test this out and find out it doesn't work.

In layman's terms, if you are doing this to zip around the city, leave. I don't want you to break your legs. With that said, I don't want to remove whatever need you have to be a swinger. So instead I have started a new forum for those of you who must swing in your lifetime.

Enjoy that, and please be super careful. Again, I don't want to be rude, but I'm being realistic (as realistic as you can be when you are making web shooters).

I wasn't hoping to do so, but I can see where you're coming from. Thanks for bringing it up.

Hey you guys, i have a question, how come nobody has started a thread on wall climbing powers? And if someone thinks they have a good solid design, tell me because i would like to know.

Hey guys! I know, I haven't been on in FOREVER. But this time, I have no deadline, and my Hulk costume is done! So, I don't know what's been going on here, but I have a working prototype! A weed killer spray thing on my back, shooting white sticky goop when I pull the trigger! It gets clogged very often, but otherwise...

Anyway, what's cookin' with you dudes?

Well hello fellas. It's been a while. How's that hulk costume working out Symbiote-man? Also to Mr. Arachno-man, the concept has been brought up, but as far as I'm aware, that science is either too easy, or too complicated. Let me explain:

-A kid in China already invented a vacuum powered wall climbing device, but it was noisy and cumbersome. (still though, good for him. He was like ten.)

-Darpa has funded research on a water based adhesion device that could assist climbing and pressure based explosions.

-scientists have been working on nanotube cilia that have been shown to work, but they become rather ineffective after two uses as they get dirty.

- The advent of parkour, buildering, and assassin's creed have allowed people to learn how to navigate the buildings without sticking to them. I'd imagine that they'd navigate faster that way too.

- The magnetic gloves have been invented and tested by myth busters, but they determined that they were too loud and limited to very little types of buildings.

So in short, it might be better to learn free running, but the end result is that scientists are actually working on it, therefore there is not much that we can bring to the table in light of DIY projects.

Yeah that makes sense White widow. Actually i've been doing parkour for 4 years now so, it's no biggy.

Nice, So when you say parkour, do you mean parkour, or free running? I think the difference is that parkour was meant to be a fast thing with minimal effort (as dive rolling will have accomplished about ten paces with much less impact.) and free running was more of an urban gymnastic sport?

Either way, that's really cool. I've always wanted to get into that, but anything past that basics worried me.

Yeah, it's parkour, and I get what you mean, it took me like 2 years to get the solid core stuff down, and now it's just working on up.

Well hello fellas. It's been a while. How's that hulk costume working out Symbiote-man?
Well, I had to resize it so it could fit through doors, but it works.

So, my weed killer bottle thing holds a pretty decent amount of flubber. I'm not completely sure how to make it operate:

A ) with a cartridge of PVC on my hand
B ) Triggered by my fingers ( like how Spidey does it )

That's pretty cool symbiote man. How did you make the palm trigger?

Hey guys, you should check out the trailer for spidey's movie. The new one:

Here is a close shot of the web shooter:

So here's what I like about this web shooter. It uses very little fluid (seriously it's like a thread), it has a nozzle, the switch is high on the palm, it can be turned off, it is pnuematic, and it has an indicator that from what I can tell is related to the battery. It has a second indicator in the form of a red light that tells when it has fluid.

What I don't like is that is has a whole lot of custom parts. While most of those parts come from a watch, the actual indicators and cartridges are made of some kind of metal.

Yeah i saw that, and i really like the Pneumatic device. I honestly can't tell if it's fluid or not. But it does uses really little fluid, like wire thin. But it has some type of crystalline structure to it..

The fluid is supposedly shear thinning, which would explain why it behaved the way it did. What I like is that it's obvious that he invented this pre spider. He still had the glasses. He hid behind a garbage tray. It was almost like the Ultimate spidey comics in every way.

Sorry about the confusion. I don't have the palm trigger yet. What I have is:
A ) Container with fluid in it-
B ) A trigger like a gun that shoots gobs of web-
The things I'm working on but don't have yet are:
A ) A cartridge for my wrist-
B ) A spidey-type trigger-
C ) I REALLY, REALLY NEED TO BE ABLE TO MAKE A STRING. Is that mechanical or fluid?

That's a lot of cool functions. I personally like the projectiles he shoots at the car thief. I also like how he made it before he became Spidey.
How would one get so much fluid out of that tiny cartridge!?!

I'm going to take apart a watch now. If all goes well, I'm scrapping my prototype. :)

In the myth busters, Jamie and adam tried to make a water taser. The result was that the water split into drops once it left the nozzle. The web fluid will do the same thing unless it hardens immediately as it leaves the nozzle. You will have to design a nozzle, and use a fluid, that will solidify immediately.

As for the fluid to cartridge ratio, the answer is he would need to compress the solid webbing and then add a surfactant that would expand the webbing. Even then it would be very difficult. I did a calculation once to figure it out. To be able to fit that much fluid into a cartridge the size of two fingers (or co2 cartridges) was to take the webbing, was to get 7 times the size of the cartridge in webbing and compress it into the cartridge. Then would have to add enough SLS to allow for an expansion rate of 1000%. Even then, one would have to use the fluid as a conservative thread. I prefer the design from the spectacular spiderman series, but the fluid consumption of the 2012 movie.

I'm thinking of adding one ingredient in my formula so that the droplets stick together. That's the best I can do until I get more money. I'm having problems with the tube; it gets clogged. I will attempt to fix that by oiling it and cleaning it after each test. Keep your fingers crossed. ;)

Any ideas for how to make the palm trigger? All mine does is work like a gun...

wow, so I think that the webshooters are really cool, but i have to complaints, one is that they look so small that they could barely hold 5 shots. another thing is that they look like custom parts and seem tho be more like a watch. Still i am extremely excited, the movie looks wonderful so i hope it meets my expectations.

Wait WHO IS THIS GUY WHO PRETENDS TO BE PARKER?

It from the viral campaign that the movie that coming out in july. It just a way to market the film. Great way by the way. I agree with the shooter and cartridge veing so small that it able to hold a lot of shots. But what I do like is how it has the pneumatic pump on there which was an idea i had a couple months ago instead of trying to actually pressurize the cartridge...

From the notes: ....... I got nothing. I'm recently in Chemistry now so I understand bits and pieces of it.
