Mike Epps is the funniest guy in that whole movie. I feel kinda sorry for James Earl Jones, Michael Clarke Duncan, and especially Martin Lawrence..

Even though it's supposed to be screwball, damn I hope the movie comes out halfway decent for Jones' sake.

Looks alright, I might rent it...

Martin Lawrence can't seem to do a good movie when he's the lead star, I think he does perform well when he's the sidekick though. The only movie I can think of though, where he's a co-star, is Bad Boys.

Martin needs Big Will, hence why I am waiting for Bad Boys III.

martin lawrence is so 90s. i miss his tv show... not really...

Life, he was second bill to Eddie Murphy.
I liked him in Big Momma's House.

Oh yeah, forgot about those ones, I thought those were pretty good.

Big Momma's House 2 on the other hand...:(

Brace yourself....Big Momma's House 3 is in the making.

Eeeeh....

I just remember another pairing, National Security, which I thought was pretty good mostly cause I love Steve Zahn.

Yeah, that one was pretty funny.
I wonder how'd he do in a good drama, Zahn did extremely well in Resce Dawn.

I think Will has that much charisma he kind of covers Lawrence with it:woot:....:wow: I hadn't noticed I'd hit 60k......and every post a gem :O:cwink:

It currently has a 44% at Rottentomatoes, and to me, that's usually the borderline as far as good, decent comedies go.

Heck, based on the scores, Fool's Good looks like it'll be worse, but for some reason, Roscoe Jenkins has been a target for criticism for months now. If it turns out to be better than Fool's Gold, then maybe people should re-assess their opinion strategy on unreleased movies, eh?! ;) :p

What criticism? I've heard equally bad things about both movies. Both look like unmitigated puddles of cinematic doo doo.

I honestly laughed at the trailers. The shower scene, his mom getting knocked in the head with the baseball, and Mike Epps Yogi Bear impersonation made me laugh.

Well, personally, if you were asking me, a month ago, I'd say that both films look very interesting and if I was still working at a movie theater (like I am now), I would definitely go see both of them. I didn't have a preference or a projection as to which film would be better or worse or anything, but it's hard to compare the to different comedies. It's just that I've personally seen more trashing of WHRJ online than I have of Fool's Gold.

I've seen the trailer at work easily, about 25 times literally. The first time I saw the trailer, it was funny, but now I'm completely desensitized. :p

The fact that Malcolm Lee is directing it is a big plus for me, as I've enjoyed pretty much all of his films. Undercover Brother, The Best Man, Roll Bounce, all very enjoyable, in my opinion. I already, thought this looked pretty funny, but I'm definitely checking it out now.

I love the fact that movies like these can't prove themselves any more because a few "movies like these" have given comedies "like these" a bad rep and now audiences can't even tell the difference any more between a movie with potential and a movie with potential to stink.

Let me tell you, this movie doesn't stink and I just saw this movie, here's what I have to say:

1/ 09/ 2008

-People like to jump on this "Another Black Comedy With An All Black Cast" bandwagon, yet they are the same people that are quick to recite quotes from Chappelle's Show or Boondocks like there's a defining difference and sometime's..there is. With this movie, it's not. It's actually pretty funny. What I liked and what you will like in this movie, is how there's actually decent COMEDY writing in this movie.

-Now, Malcolm D. Lee makes, decent, wholesome, quality movies. A lot of people haven't taken the time to acknowledge this about the film, but this guy has made very decent and recommendable movies like Roll Bounce, The Best Man, and Undercover Brother. Therefore, if you enjoy comedy and slapstick along the lines of those movies and comedy stylings reminiscent of "Martin" and "Chappelle's Show", you WILL enjoy this movie.

-The film has some heart, or at least attempts to bring about a message, which is clearly all about not letting money change you or make you forget where you came from, but other than that, the movie's plot isn't too original and features some cliches and some predictable twists, but with all those things, I'm still recommending this movie because the movie is well cast and "fires on all cylinders" as a comedy.

-What makes the comedic moments in this movie work is the directing and the actors. When you watch this movie, you'll be able to tell that this movie was written and directed by people that know what's funny, when the actors can be themselves, and what can be funny for EVERYONE. EVERYONE (especially the fans of the shows that I've mentioned before) will understand and enjoy the jokes in this movie. If not that, then I recommend this movie JUST to see all of these great comedians and dramatic actors (especially Michael Clarke Duncan, who is actually very good at comedy here, but MOST especially Mike Epps, who pretty much steals every scene he's in) blend together especially in some of these over-the-top slapstick moments that work well without becoming too distracting and out-of-taste.

-7/10 ("Matinee" - Definitely worth your $6 (plus $10 for popcorn) for the early shows.

TNC's Bottom Line: If you liked the material of "Meet the Parents", the "Friday" movies, "Undercover Brother", and "Chappelle's Show", you'll definitely like this movie.

Then you're defeating the purpose.
