In Tactitus a Roman Senator and Historian's biography of Gnaeus Julius Agricola who was the Roman general and Governor responsible for most of the Roman conquest of Britain description of the native Silures tribe (which stretched from modern day south Wales to Gloucestershire and Herefordshire of present day England) he described them as having
dark complexion and curly hair. Due to their appearance, Tacitus hinted that they may have crossed over from Spain at an earlier date.
Alot of Italian immigrants emigrated to Wales in the late 19th to early20th century.
