Remember the Fox series from 1987 called "Werewolf " starring Chuck Connors ? Well Shout Factory will be releasing the dvd of the series Sept.1. Can't wait !!!

Didn't know about this thread until Nivek mentioned it to me. Thanks, chap!

I will be keeping a close eye on this release on Amazon, as I cannot wait till it comes out. I loved this show and this DVD is a long time coming.

There doesn't seem to be enough details out there about it regarding if it has many or any special features.

Any of you ever visit the official website? http://www.werewolftv.com/

I have visited the site over the past few years and they've had a petition going for a long time to get the series released on DVD. Serious following!

Nice to see that it will finally be happening.

I was sad to see this show canceled like I was with the Flash tv series. Two really great shows that couldn't make it past the first season. Really unfortunate.

Well, I remember Fox at the time saying it was "expensive". But it was a good show for the day. Makes me wonder if they would ever give it another shot? Then again, that would probably follow a Beans Baxter, Hermans Head, and Parker Lewis redux as well.

LOL I remember this show. Had a really cool pilot but then went down the drain quickly.

There was a tv series called Wolf Creek than ran in recent years but it was so boring that it fizzled out.

I hope, if the new Wolf Man movie is successful, there will be a whole werewolf revival.

Maybe then we'll start seeing some new tv shows pop up.

you may be more likely to see teir revival come when they start popping up in the True blood and Twylight series.

Yeah....but I'm talking about cool werewolves.

Looks like Werewolf tv series on DVD was taken off of Amazon. Can't find it anywhere now.
What the hell?

It's probably over those music legal issues.

...the DVD release of Werewolf: The Series has been officially postponed and won’t be coming out in 2009. It seems that there are some problems licensing some of the music used in the show’s soundtrack, and the way the sound was mixed makes it impossible to replace / remove the music. Brian Ward, one of the DVD producers at Shout! Factory, posted an explanation in the Shout! Factory forum:

In order to extract the music, we would literally need to extract the scenes completely. And these are some fairly important scenes that, in some cases, run several minutes. So we’re still working on figuring it all out. It’s a great set and I hope to see it released shortly. But it doesn’t look like it’s going to be on the books for ‘09… There are only a couple songs giving us trouble, but they’re EXPENSIVE songs and we’re just not sure we’d sell enough to meet the record labels’ prices and still make any money whatsoever. We’ve not stopped pursuing it. We’ve put together a great set with some cool extras and a BEAUTIFUL cover, in my opinion. I want people to own it. Hopefully, sometime soon, they will.

This is really disappointing. I have been looking forward to this release for years. And now some cheesy old washed-up rocker fart is holding us back.
Well, I don't want to be totally unfair. I mean, if it's in his contract and they owe him money and are not paying him than that's not cool either.

I just can't help but feel that there's more to this. Like the real truth is that they are holding out on this release in order to release it when the new Wolf Man movie comes out. So they can guarantee successful sales.
No one's going to be hyped to buy a werewolf dvd right now, but next year people will be snatching them up left and right, if the Wolf Man movie is a hit.

I guess we'll see...

I am officially heartbroken....I just found this:

'Werewolf: The Complete Series' Cancelled
Tuesday, September 15, 2009
By: David Harley

In a sad turn of events, Shout! Factory's Werewolf box set has been canceled. Back in August, word came from the company that the set was being delayed to 2010 due to music right issues. However, it doesn't look like those rights were worked out and they have indeed caused the entire release to be abandoned. It's a shame that an entire set had to be canceled due to two artists holding out but it looks like those bootlegs of TV broadcasts are going to be the only way you'll be able to relive the series.

According to the webmaster of the Werewolf Yahoo Group, "The Shout Factory had to cancel the release because of two artists (which will remain unnamed) that would not play ball. Sony does not have the individual audio tracks, so they were unable to replace the songs, as the audio was mixed together. The two songs were featured over dialogue scenes that could not be cut. The Shout Factory's only option, even after spending a lot of time and money on it, was to cancel it and give the title back to Sony. If Sony had the audio tracks, it would have been easy to replace the two songs."

Can you believe it?

I can believe it, the same thing happened to Malcolm in the Middle and many other shows as well.:csad:

Oh, how I wish I knew who the artists in question are that caused this Box Set to be cancelled! I doubt they are anyone really worth a damn.

this will totally pop up on some merchant's table at the Horror Con's next year. You watch. Stuff like this always does. granted, it will proabbly cost 3 times as much, but it will be there...

wow... bizarre.. but even more reason why Marvel/Disney should develop a Werewolf by Night series..

This is such a shame. To get this close to release. To be so close to having it in our dvd players and watching it late at night and enjoying every episode.
They're just sitting in some warehouse right now collecting dust.

Oh, the heartache...:argh:

Well I hope it does, and that person or whoever buys it makes copies of it. I really wanted the show badly in my collection. I mean those old tv rips are getting; well old and aren't really watchable.

I hope those 2 artists change their mind or Sony gets their act together and make some offer to those artists.

Don't forget there's rumors that MTV will produce a remake of Teen Wolf.

Teen Wolf wasn't that appealing, to me anyways. However, if Werewolf can be remade, then I'm all up for it.
