Ok, first off, I am genuinely sorry for making you feel like you had to bring up things from your personal life, when you did not want to.
But, I will say that anyone who thinks of you as a 'bad person', because of these experiences, is an ignorant moron, they should realise you were just a person going through some terrible problems, and should have sympathy for you.
and yeah, there are different degrees of addiction, like, it's said that it's not necesarily the amount you drink that makes you an alcoholic, it's the reasoning behind it.
If you take a drink to make yourself feel different, to escape from yourself because you don't like yourself, then you have an alcohol problem. edit: or indeed, if you use it as self medication(like i did) to escape depression it is a problem.
If you drink to be sociable, or to just have fun(I mean, that is what it is there for), then you don't have a problem, well, y'know, you have a problem if you drink too much, or think you can only have fun if you are drunk.
But, you said that nowadays you drink to have fun, so that is a good sign, as long as you don't think you need to drink to have fun.
