The Amazing Spider-Man 2 What Did You Not Like?(Spoilers!!!)

untitled2-proof-gwen-stacey-will-die-in-the-amazing-spider-man-2.jpeg

when I saw this image, I expected to here Peter scream like Frodo screamed for Gandalf in TFOR

what is it like a deleted scene or something? I felt like the scene would have been more complete if they left it in there.

It's funny you mention that, because the score in that scene gave me a very Bridge of Khazad Dum feel. Like literally while sitting in the theater I was thinking "This reminds me of Bridge of Khazad Dum." :funny:

Something i found really weird was that before Max turned into electro he had a massive gap between his 2 front upper teeth, but when he turned into Electro the gap was totally gone?!?!?! WTF?!?!

I think it was kind of like a Sandman deal. His body was all burnt and whatnot, and he became pure electricity, so he could alter himself a bit. That's how I took it.

I just wanna say I don't get why people are complaining about Felicia. Maybe they felt foreshadowing something like Black Cat would feel random or forced given the other things that were going on at the time.

The movie was way too tight to give her any character development. But I'm not going to say she shouldn't of been in the movie at all. That's like saying they should of cut the sinister six foreshadowing since they don't do anything.

They established her in the universe. I don't agree with the idea all characters introduced in a movie have to have decent sized roles or not be in the movie at all.

Literally a cat pendant or a scene of Parker taking down her father (in one of those montages) would have sufficed

Not really. What have they done to make it so clear? Never forget the fact that there were talks about having Oscorp in Avengers. As a matter of fact, even though it didn't appear the fact that they even talked about it could make me believe that it was still there somewhere.

Also, don't forget about all the cranes in asm1 without a proper explanation as to why there were so many of them in the first place.

Lastly, just because they don't add mcu easter eggs does not mean I am okay with it. I'll say this forever more, as far as I am concerned as a fan, seeing the asm series connected to the mcu is the most important thing to establish/see happen.

Ive seen you bring up the MCU ester egg stuff in at lest 3 threads now. Unless Sony works out a deal or sells the rights, they aren't in shared universes. I know you want it, lots do, but its probably not going to happen anytime soon. I'd bet it'll never be this Spidey in the MCU.

There's a close up shot of the gap in his teeth disappearing when he falls into the eel tank.

Max Dillon, specifically the birthday scene at his home.

Uncle Ben's killer is still out there.

Goblin's origin, and what has used to get him there. Hate how he looks too.

Norman should have been the Goblin, IMO Harry always works when more sympathetic. I understood Harry's motivations, but his actions no longer made me sympathetic to him. They changed it up just to be different, but it was a bad choice as both of the characters of Harry and Norman are very important to the mythos and they are NOT interchangeable.

Dr Kafka

Although I liked the character acting a bookend, I hated the Alexis/Rhino portrayal. I also hated his look as Rhino and the fact he had guns.

Lack of Flash (it's like he was iOS)

General statement, the main characters and supporting cast had decent roles,IMO and the villlians, although played by great actors were portrayed poorly. This to me was what made it seem like too different tones. For an extreme example, Jim Carrey's Riddler would not fit in Batman Begins.

Even though I liked this movie a lot here are a few things I didn't like

1. Peter mourning Captain Stacy and his parents more than Uncle Ben. He barely acknowledged the dude who raised you and his death was the reason he became Spider Man in the first place.

2. I don't like Max/ Electro's weak motivations and lack of character development. I also disliked his comb over and buck teeth look as well as his pre electro music. They could have made Jamie a social outcast without that comedic

3. I wish the movie had a bit more action or the fight scenes with Electro and Goblin lasted a bit longer.

That's all I can think of really.

I felt it was very stupid to show Harry in Ravencroft plotting with The Gentleman to form a team to take down Spider-man. It really didn't make any sense that The Gentleman is now working for him...

It would have been MUCH more effective to have shown Norman still alive saying the very same words.

Peter wasn't really "mourning" Captain Stacy. He was constantly feeling guilty about breaking the promise he made about not involving Gwen in his life. I thought the was pretty clear.

It also served as foreshadowing for what was to come.

I didn't like the drawn out boring scenes, Peter barely giving a crap about Uncle Ben, where did Electro get his costume from (didn't bother me really but it's lol), the short amount of Goblin time (loved him overall though). Need to tighten things up and vastly improve part 3.

You and I think alike buddy. It really bothered they just glance over Uncle Ben in this franchise. Maybe next movie Peter can think of Ben more for his motivations.

I'll have to see that again then, actually. But yeah, they really shouldn't have taken it out.

-Lack of Flash also irks me a bit. I was always a fan of their friendship developing and it was even hinted at in the first film, now it seems just like the Raimi films, he's been tossed away.
-Kafka! I have no idea how this character got past the scipt stage and editing stage. Why not just have Menken torture Max? Kafka(which they've also completely thrown away using a good female character in these films) felt completely out of place.
-Alexi. It was just too cartoonish for me. I actually Giamiatti would have just been Alex O Hirn instead so we could be spared the awful accent. Makes me worry about Kraven and Chameleon if they do go that route.
-If they would have made Max a meek person with serious loneliness and self worth issues, I think it would have really worked. But they decided to make him a carticature instead. They should have modeled Dillon after Jamie Foxx's character in collateral
-Lack of any Uncle Ben mentions. Also Peter seemed fixated on Richard, rather than both his parents.
-I needed at least one more Electro fight or for both fights to be a bit longer. Also needed the Goblin fight to be longer.
-Harry becoming Goblin was obviously shoe horned in just for Gwen's death. I'm also a little irked it wasn't Norman and that it seems Harry will be the arch nemesis from here on out.

Harry Osborn/Green Goblin. There was barely an opportunity to establish them as friends, much less produce a worthy downfall for Harry. They tried to create something of a family feud here, but because Norman got all of one scene and Harry didn't seem particularly conflicted about killing his friend, it just fell flat. Just... silly.

Spider-Man 3 was a far worse movie than ASM2 (which was otherwise quite likable), but Raimi's Harry, as built through those three movies, worked wonderfully (with the exception of the time-killing amnesia plot). There was conflict and tragedy there that just doesn't exist in ASM2--and having seen it done well, it hurts more seeing it done poorly.

Also? The Green Goblin design is perhaps the worst interpretation I could possibly imagine. Just... awful.

Maybe i'm in the minority here but did it bother anyone that Harry asked Peter to ask Spider-Man to give him his blood, simply based off the fact that Peter took a picture of Spider-Man, lol?

I mean here you have a nobody, Parker, who explains to Harry that he simply caught a pic of Spider-Man, as thousands of NY'esr probably do all the time, yet Harry feels the need to have Peter find him, despite having million of dollars worth of resources at his own finger tips…..
Yeah, that sort of thing would've made a lot more sense in the original films where it's sort of established that Peter has a special relationship with Spider-Man.

^I assuming you guys are referring to Electro when Harry released him…

The boxer shorts thing bothered me a bit too. If he can materialize clothes, why not a whole outfit?

Yes and I will defend it until I die.

But honestly I feel like I'm more alone on this idea than I thought. They talked about it once with Oscorp in the Avengers and if they paid attention to audience reaction when it hit the web then they should have realized it'd have been a good idea to try it again...

So if I'm understanding Webb's recent interview correctly, all the stuff with Electro got shoved in to make it less obvious they were going to kill Gwen Stacy?

Seriously?
