What Do/Don't You Want to See from Episode VIII? (TFA SPOILERS INSIDE)

I thought TFA was great. Here's just what I wanna see and not see in the next installments

Do:
-More Poe Damen. I thought he was badass, funny (Who talks first, me or you?); but then he came back with an anti-climatic way. But I really want to see him throughout the movie more
-Kinda going with that. I really wanna see more interaction and a journey with just The New 3: Finn, Rey, and Poe.
-Finn starting Jedi training. He seemed pretty natural with a lightsaber. I assume Rey will be at least a year deep in training by Episode VIII.
-Make Kylo Ren more badass. I think he started badass, but he kinda fell off, to me, during the 3rd act
-More Phasma if she's alive
-Give Rey a double bladed lightsaber

Don't
-Don't drag out Finn/Rey's love story if there's going to be one. I know it was mostly a one sided flirtation and then a mutual friendship so I dont know if they're going to completely go with a love story. But don't drag it out if theyre going to. On that note: if theyre not gonna do it, just drop it they don't need Finn to keep hitting on her/flirting
-Don't do what TFA did and follow a lot of the same story beats as another movie in the series


What do you wanna see and not see?

Besides the obvious that we know we're getting like more Luke, Snoke, etc., I want to see more of Poe and Finn together. They made a great team during the escape, and I'd like to see Poe maybe training Finn as a pilot. I don't think they're going to make Finn a Jedi.

 

[FVD]

- More backstory into the Knights of Ren. I think Kylo (Ben) is clearly a rookie of sorts and I do wonder whether Benicio Del Toro could be one of the more experienced Knights. To see them function as a unit could prove very intimidating.

- More of the Finn and Rey dynamic. Don't want them falling in love though.

- More of Poe Dameron / Captain Phasma etc...

- I wouldn't object to Force Ghosts appearing in future sequels whether it be Ewan's Obi-Wan or ugh, Hayden's Anakin. Maybe we'll see Hayden actually show that he is a capable actor. Now I would laugh if Anakin appeared before his grandson and reveal that he's one with the light again. Maybe Kylo Ben will throw another lightsaber tantrum lol.

- Don't blow your load all in one movie. What TFA did really well was maintain a sense of mystery and wonder by not revealing too much and I want to see that continued.
- Do the Adventures of Finn and Poe.
- Do something really unexpected and left-field.
- Continue to develop the villains since

the main four all survived TFA.

- Start to get into the politics of the Resistance/New Republic and First Order a bit more, but not to the extent that it bogs down the movie.
- Have Finn and Phasma face each other again.

I'd like to see more Poe, for them to tone down the Finn based humor a bit and go more off of the reservation as far as story structure is concerned.

- More Poe! He needs an arc that runs right through the movie as opposed to being absent for half of it. This arc should include a Speederbike chase.

- Rey building her own Lightsaber, preferably a dual bladed one.

- Luke and Rey finding the lost Jedi Temple.

- Phasma showing her badass side.

- Kylo Ren with a new, monstrous look, fused with cyborg parts.

- Luke and Rey vs The Knights of Ren

- Luke pulling a TIE Fighter out of the sky with the Force

- R2 and BB-8 working together

- Poe and Rey having some scenes together.

- Mandalorians!

They say this film's going to be weird and out there, I'm hoping that means we get something in the vein of the last Yoda arc from Clone Wars, diving into the force in all it's mysticism as Rey trains under Luke.

- I agree that we need to see Luke being a badass jedi master. DON'T KILL HIM OFF TOO SOON!

- Save Rey being a true badass jedi knight for episode 9. (Though this is probably obvious).

- I'm not sure where they're going with Finn but I don't think he should be a love interest for Rey (she shouldn't have any love interest). Their friendship should get stronger though.

- DO NOT BRING HAN BACK. His death brought some much needed emotion to the ending and the trilogy.

- Lose the redemption character arc for Kylo Ren. He killed Han, the character is beyond redemption.

Idk.
I like Lando, but after watching TFA I went and watched an interview with Billy Dee. He's just not a spry as he used to.

Of course it's understandable why, but I don't really wanna see Lando as a shell of his former self which Billy Dee seemed like he was. One of my fears for this movie was that all the older main 3 were just going to be like watching Jordan on the Wizards, Just a shell of what they used to be, lacking charisma, etc. luckily I was proven wrong even before the movie dropped. But with Billy Dee I just don't see that happening.

Maybe a cameo, but not anything serious.


However, while Im not a huge fan of the idea of a Han Solo prequel/spin off, it would be cool if Lando was a character in it.

All out Galactic war. The First Order blew up The Senate and seat of the New Republic. They started a war.

Something i realy want to see in the next films (including the spin-offs) are more otherworldly locations. All the settings in TFA felts like they could be from Earth, even the sky lacked some of the little details the previous films had (like visible moons of varying shapes). You don't need to go CGI like the prequels did for that either, in Star Trek Into Darkness, Abrams made a very cool looking red planet that looked realistic.

No more superweapons, ever. The early rumors of the Resistance having their own superweapon to counter the First Order's bothered me to no end, so I'm glad that this plot point never materialized. This isn't Metal Gear, nor do I want the franchise to become that. Considering it was the third time, I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed the movie, but I suppose that just speaks to how well executed it was (either that, or I'm a sucker). It could be explained away by asserting that these planet-killers are far too expensive and demanding to create another, and that the FO hedged way too many resources on Starkiller Base for them to take such a risk again.

Above all else, let Rian Johnson do his thing. I have complete confidence in him to deliver a film that's even better than TFA.

Someone mentioned this in another thread, and I agree with it completely. I'm curious to see where Luke's head is at. His father turned to the Dark Side, and while he was ultimately saved in the end, he brought much death and destruction before doing so. Luke himself almost gave in to anger and was on the brink of the Dark Side himself. And now his nephew has fallen, betrayed his family, and helped destroy everything Luke had built.

For what was supposed to bring balance to the force, the Skywalker name has a spotty track record at best. Does Luke feel that maybe the galaxy would be a better place without any Skywalkers in it - hence the self-imposed exile? The look on his face at the end of TFA looked like that of a heart-broken soul.

Obviously I want to see more of Snoke and the Knights of Ren. Kylo is still an apprentice of sorts. Is Benicio Del Toro playing a more seasoned Knight? Maybe one whom Snoke holds in higher regard? That could drive Kylo's inferiority complex and take him on an interesting road in the next film. Someone is standing in his way and he'll have to prove himself worthy to Snoke once and for all. Could lead to some backstabbing and treachery on his part. No one is safe from his wrath.

As for Snoke, what exactly is his end-game? Galactic conquest would simply make him Palpatine 2.0, unless his definition of "conquest" goes beyond the political. Is he using the First Order as a smokescreen for a more sinister agenda?

I can't ****ing wait.

Everyone has given great suggestions.

1.A really powerful luke doing things that we haven't seen before, like HR said pulling down tie fighter or making two tie fighters crash.

2. Keep building the evolution of kylo and show him actually slowly becoming as powerful as vader. Change his look, maybe he builds a new mask/helmet that's less vader 2.0 and one that more reflects his transition but still a very intimidating badass visage of a mask.

3. More poe dameron. Maybe a new dogfight/chase where he does lots of acrobatic maneuvers while taking down a whole fleet of tie fighters.

4 . keep developing finn/ rey friendship organically and tone down finns humor.

5. Don't kill chewie ever, if anything make him more of that savage badass he became when han died taking down lots of troopers.

6. Make better choreographies for the lighsaber fights. I understand that JJ wanted to go back to the raw heavier style of the ot and that rey Isn't a trained jedi yet. But as her skills (and kylos) grow the fights should become much more sophisticated. Don't go full prequel dance, nor full OT slow heavy swinging a bat style. A balanced middle ground of brutal paries ,counters, slashes etc. but with a graceful precision of economic movement.

and shot the fights in side angles more and not such tight shots sometimes its a bit hard to understand.
