Does the big superman collection have ALL the releases and special features as the individual releases or what?
And other than a different box/no SR what the diff between superman collection and christopher reeves collection?

Ya the ultimate has it all. If your in the U.S. the C.Reeve set does'nt have the Donner cut for Supes 2 which is essential in my opinion. In addition you also get SR the Look up in the sky and the exclusive 90 min documentary which people say is quite good. Apparently you can get the ultimate set shipped from WarnerBrothers.com for 61.50 by using the code "wbnews". So theres no reason not to go for the ultimate col.

I got the Ultimate DVD set. Heres why

I dont have 3 and 4 at all. And here there are deluxe versions (Once Warners gets their act together and replaces the one included in the set. LOL) with extra scenes and making of 3.

It has SR (which id never buy separate) and the Donner cut.

It has 4 STM discs with lots of extras.

$69.99 at Target and Best buy and Circuit City. Wheras the Chris Reeve collection is $54.99 and lacks SR and Donner cut.

Provided you buy it this week (while it's on sale), the Ultimate Collection is a better choice than the Reeve boxset for two reasons:

-Donner Cut
-Documentary covering all four Reeve films

Both of these really should've been included in the Reeve set. But if they had been, I guess WB realized many people would've just picked that up instead.

But all the special features from the single editions is on here as well right.
Thats the thing I'm more concerned about. (and not getting "the WB special" lol)

Even with the inconvienence of having to send back error discs the ultimate set is really the way to go. Just consider that you send $5.75 for the posters which you can just sell on ebay cutting the price down even further. I just ordered one from warnerbrothers.com use the code ''wbnews'' to get it for $61.80 shipped!

I have the Ultimate collectors Edition but I'm not able to open it until christmas. I was wondering if I will still be able to call the 1-800 number to get the replacment disc for Superman III and the first disc to Superman: The Movie after christmas? Dose anyone know how long WB is going to replace these error dics for free?

There will eventually be a cut off point for the replacement discs but I don't know how long WB will be offering them for. If your parents kept the receipt then maybe you could wait a while & exchange the set in the store where they got if from maybe after Christmas WB will have released the corrected sets & you won't have to go through the hassle of sending discs back & then waiting no telling how long for the corrected discs to be returned. You could encounter other problems with the set like some people are getting duplicate discs in their sets in which case if that were to happen to you, you would have to exchange the set in the store anyways before sending off for the correct discs.

For me, I will not be getting the Ultimate Collection. I will be buying the Christopher Reeve Superman Collection to get the 8 disc set.

Superman: The Movie - 4 Discs
Superman II - 2 Discs
Superman III - 1 Disc
Superman IV - 1 Disc

I have bought separate:

Superman II - The Richard Donner Cut
Superman Returns

I already had:

Look Up In The Sky - The Amazing Story of Superman
Superman Vs The Mole Men (comes with the First Season of George Reeves The Adventures of Superman)
The 17 Episode Cartoons of Superman from 1941 to 1943. (Got all of these on one disc.)

So, for me I will not buy that set at all. Since I will be having most of it anyway. And since I have heard that it has errors on the discs, personally I think it is a waste of time to do that just to be disappointed for a few days since you can see those discs until it comes in the mail.

Thanks for the info. Well I guess it's a good thing my parents always keep the receipts.

I got the Ultimate Collector's Edition for Christmas and traded it the day after for the Reeve Colllection. I already had bougth The Donner Cut and there was no way I was going to own SR in any form or by any means, gift or not.

So the reeve set was probably $50 and the donner cut $20. How is this a good idea? Even if you despise SR the U.set would still give you 2 bonus discs and the 5 movie posters.

It's worth it just so WB knows that SR is purposely being avoided. Plus, just having SR in my house with the SR graphics in the collection would have annoyed me to no end. Plus, I don't need the posters and don't have the desire for the bonus discs. I got exactly what I wanted by trading for the Reeve set and I am a happier person for it. I spent all Christmas day trying to decide what to do. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized having SR in the home would only annoy me and having the SR graphics in the packaging would that I would see whenever I opened it up would irritate me and make me think of how much I despise SR. Peace of mind is worth an extra $20. ANd of course, it is how I choose to show my lack of support for SR and sequels in a financial manner that WB can understand.

Well, the Ultimate Superman Collection is the best DVD set ever. By a large margin. That should probably convince you to buy it over the Reeve collection.

Luckily in Britain, the Christopher Reeve collection included the Donner cut, and came out two weeks before, so I got that instead of the Ultimate collection. :super:

Anyone know if the disc problem has been fixed yet? Is it finally safe to buy the ultimate collection?
