What Green Lantern got right

Pretty much nothing.

Sinestro, Tomar Re and Kilowog were great... for all 10 minutes that they were on screen. But none of them received any development.

Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan spot on casting, Mark Strong as Sinestro, OA, the core etc lots of things really.

I was really impressed with Blake Lively's acting in this picture.

I reallky liked Blake Lively in the film, plus she looked so hot that really helped :D

The entire cast. The special effects. The costume.

I don't think any of the actors were bad. But they had nothing to work with. Including Reynolds. Hal was basically a poor mans Maverick from Top Gun. Who went from Green Lantern drop out... to world saver after a little pep talk from his pretty girlfriend.

Pretty much nothing?
Appearance wise?
Personality trait wise?
Super power wise?
Name wise?
Etc.

Give me a break man. :whatever:

:D

I got a massive top gun vibe in that plane scene but I liked it

Agree with that, the costume was awesome

The only thing the film got wrong was the script and directing.

-Hector Hammond
-Hal Jordan/Green Lantern (toward the end of the movie especially)
-the constructs were really cool
-the action

Sinestro, Kilowog, Tomar Re needed to be in the movie more. They were great, but kind of forgotten in this movie. I was expecting alot more dialouge between GL and those three.

Pretty much nothing.

You're hating on it too much.

The movie was good...besides the script. The actors did their best on what they had, but the script itself was the worst part of the thing. Maybe that's why they(Berlanti and co.) wanted to do Green Lantern....all that CGI and effects mostly covered all the mishaps that the script had.

No seriously, this movie is a steaming pile.

Appearance? ok, the suit is awesome.

Personality trait? What personality trait? Hal was a Maverick rip off who didn't get any real character development. Carol was a plot device there to be nothing other than a love interest who eventually tells Hal what he has to do, saving him from learning anything himself. Hector Hammond was laughable. Sinestro was awesome, but didn't get any development and was then ruined in the after credit scene.

Super power wise? The constructs when on Oa, looked cool, for the whole 5 minutes of the training scene... On Earth? They look horrendous.

Name wise? What's that supposed to mean?

Which is the backbone of the film. You cannot have a good film without a good script.

The script was terrible. The movie was terrible.

So...should we say the actors were wrong because of the script? No.

Arguebly isn't Sinestro's portrayal pretty bad considering they screwed the plot/character over fan service with the post credit scene?

Actors can be good in terrible movies.

In any case, you said the movie was good. The acting was solid, but that is just one piece in the bigger picture.

And talent hardly makes up for the horrendous dialogue and shameful lack of development they were given.

It's very simple... when the "only" problems with a movie are the script and the directing...

you have a steaming pile of a movie. No matter what the actors do, you have a crap movie.

:funny: :funny: oh jesus do you realise how ridiculous that sounds?

It's like saying "The only thing the restaurant got wrong was cooking my meal".

Doesnt sound ridiculous at all. I know script is a major part of a movie but not as if everything in this movie was horrid.

Indeed. Sinestro was well played by Strong. But again, ZERO development. Then he gets ruined in the after credit scene.

The script was horrible so shouldnt Sinestro be horrible aswell? Strong was terrible because the script was horrible. Who cares how well played he was. Every little thing in the movie was horrible.

I think it got alot right. I loved this movie. I liked that they showed his family and that he is an uncle. First time a superhero saved the whole planet (F42 doesnt count) All the casting was great. I was on the wall about Reynolds but he pulled it off. For the movie introduction to this universe i thought it was great
I dont get all the hate in comparison to all other comic book films i think it sits towards the top. I thought it was way better then Thor wich i also loved. I think alot of people went into it trying to pick it apart so they didnt end up enjoying it.
Huge GL fan (me and my bro have the oath tattooed on our wrists) and i wasnt dissapointed in the slightest

No not every little thing in this movie was terrible.

But the two biggest things, the two things that make or break a movie, the writing and direction... were terrible.

Therefore, the movie is terrible.
