The new episode just aired and it sucked. Recently family guy hasnt been as good as it usually is. Is seth and the crew running out of juice?

Yea, tonights episode was kinda lame. :csad: American Dad was actually better! :wow:

I actually have never watched american dad

Check it out. Its actually pretty good.

It hasn't been the same since it came back. Apparently they got a new writing staff. In my opinion they should not have come back. They essentially turned into The Simpsons, with bad episodes week after week.

Every once in a while they air a good episode. That episode where Stewie finally "kills" Lois was awesome.

At least I'm not alone in thinking this too. Was this episode supposed to be funny? Seriously, it seemed like there were only 1 or 2 attempts at jokes, the rest was just some melodrama.

Normally I defend Family Guy, but this ... this was just not good.

Also it seems that they've stopped with the 'Is Stewie gay?' jokes and pretty much outed him.

:wow:I can't belive what I'm hearing...Sure this episode wasn't great but it was still funny as hell(100x better than simpsons)

I'm looking forward to something, something, darkside.

:woot:

I stop watching it when they brought the show back.

FG's writing has collapsed over this season. Lame gags that repeat themselves, storylines that make no sense, and characters that have stagnated into caricatures. I hope Seth uses the summer hiatus to regroup because the way it looks Animation is no longer dominant on FOX. Maybe they need some new shows.

Simpsons is 19 years old
King of the Hilll is 13 years old
Family Guy is at least six years old counting back from 01 to now
American Dad has been American Sad from day one and run three seasons too long

Once a show gets past the five year mark it declines in quality. Maybe It's time for Fox to cancel everything and start fresh.

Family Guy has had about 9 years going back to 1999.

Fox has another animated sitcom coming this season that actually sounds good and will cause me to tune in (or TiVo) on Sundays.

'Simpsons' duo draw 'Up' new show
Oakley, Weinstein lead Fox animated comedy
By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER

"The Simpsons" vets Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein have been named exec producers on Fox's animated laffer "Sit Down, Shut Up."

As part of the deal, Oakley and Weinstein have also secured a blind script commitment at Sony Pictures Television, which is behind the show.

Addition of Oakley and Weinstein to the toon's team is a good sign that a series order is in the offing; Fox had planned to decide on the show's fate after a table read, which took place earlier this month. Net, however, hasn't confirmed a pickup.

Oakley and Weinstein will add plenty of animated comedy experience to "Sit Down, Shut Up," which was initially set up by "Arrested Development" creator Mitch Hurwitz (who also wrote the first script) and his producing partners, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum.

"To run Mitch's show, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Oakley said. "It all worked out -- Mitch wants to be in more of a supervisory role, like Ron Howard on 'Arrested.' "

"Sit Down, Shut Up" is based on a live-action sitcom from Australia. The animated U.S. version revolves around the lives of seven staff members at a dysfunctional high school in a small northeastern fishing town. Action centers on faculty members, as their egos and personal agendas trump the students' needs.

"It's extremely character based, like 'Arrested Development,' and has different rhythms than other animated shows like 'The Simpsons' or 'King of the Hill,'" Oakley said. Voice talent includes several thesps from Hurwitz's "Arrested Development": Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Henry Winkler. Show also features Cheri Oteri, Will Forte, Regina King, Tom Kenny, Nick Kroll and Maria Bamford.

Animator and children's book author Mo Willems, who was behind Cartoon Network's critically acclaimed "Sheep in the Big City," is handling animation on the show.

Besides Sony, 20th Century Fox TV has been added as a co-producer on "Sit Down, Shut Up." In addition, Granada USA is producing, along with Tantamount -- the partnership between Hurwitz and the Tannenbaums.

Oakley and Weinstein had also been developing another project with Sony, Hurwitz and the Tannenbaums before the strike at Fox. That project, about dancers on a 1970s TV show in Los Angeles (tentative title: "Boogie Fever"), is now on the back burner but could be redeveloped.

Meanwhile, the scribes are also working, with Aaron Ehasz, on an animated project for Nickelodeon.

"Worst Class Ever" takes place at a middle school. Patton Oswald is providing the lead voice, while Oakley and Weinstein also serve as voice actors. Oakley also put on his cartoonist cap and drew the show's characters.

Oakley and Weinstein worked on "The Simpsons" during what's widely considered the show's golden years, eventually working their way up to exec producers. Their credits also include the animated WB laffer "Mission Hill" and UPN's quirky live-action comedy "The Mullets" (which they worked on with the Tannenbaums).

While this ep wasn't funny except for Stewie being alone with Brian's son, it is 100 million times funny that the stale Simpsons.

When Family Guy returned I noticed that they were pushing the envelope but then they took it too far. Family Guy became racist, unfunny, predictable, poorly written, and the characters all changed. Despite this, my family still watches it.

That's because people are creatures of habit. If the networks keep a show on the air we'll keep watching it.

FG was okay when it was pushing the envelope with the characters and storylines but lately the show has become a soapbox for liberals. Save that crap for American Sad. I want laugh out loud gags on FG not somebody preaching at me about abortion, stem cells and immigration.

I think one of the drawbacks is that it became a random clip show. Basically, a character says something out of the blue, and then they animate it. I preferred when the gags were an actual part of the story. One of my favorites from early on...and I'm paraphrasing...

Lois: "Peter thought we needed more security, so we built a mote."
Mail Lady: "Does it work?"
Lois: "Well, it does keep the Black Knight at bay..."
(Scene shows a Black Knight outside the mote)

Stuff like that I found hiliarious...and all the scenes involving Adam West for example. But as I said, it turned into a clip show and jokes within the actual story seemed to nearly disappear.

There we go :D

It hasn't been good in a while.

What season is airing over in the U.S.? Last season we got over here in Ireland was season 6. I thought it was hilarious.

I actually thought the "Mexican funeral" clip was great, so keep some of the random clips.

And before everyone starts blasting me for being a racist, I'm half Mexican myself. I just thought it was a great gag.

Yeah, I'd agree that the random clips are funny and they should certainly keep SOME of them...but they should use them much, much more sparingly. As it stands now, they're shooting those off every few seconds it seems. They should try to focus more on gags and jokes that take place within the scene itself instead of cutting away to unrelated things so much.

South Park pretty much killed the whole concept of FG's "You think that's bad? Remember the time I..." style humor.

Meh. This show has sucked since its return with the notable exceptions of when Stewie killed Lois and Peter killed Stewie in another episode.

Otherwise this show has been downhill for years. Ever since SP (a show with true longevity) tore their formula apart a few years ago, I really can no longer watch Family Guy and laugh, unless they are doing a classic movie parody. Otherwise it's just....meh. Still love Stewie and Brian though. The other characters are just annoying now.
