Yah the reccent Road to Road episode was pretty funny. I really liked seeing the show focouse on it, no subplot for once which was great. Animation was fantastic and I loved the action scenes. Any who this was the best new episode in a while, I agree the show has gone down hill a bit. I stayed tune to this one becuase I love Road to Road episodes there normally the best of the season.

How do you make comedic writing good. I have an idea of whats funny and whats not funny but as far as writing in a comedy what would be a example of strong comedic writing ?

Something like Arrested Development.

Arrested Development
Fawlty Towers
Black Adder
The Honeymooners

to name a few

Every episode that focuses on Brian & Stewie are always the best.

liked this weeks but the simpsons outclassed it again. What the hell?

I hear alot of "the writing isnt good" but isnt comedy puely ones opinion? personally i like the hit and miss random humor.

Family Guy tries to be edgey, but usually fails. For risque or shock comedy to work, it has to actually be funny. Family Guy isn't. Peter meeting Jesus, then the show going out of its way to be offensive isn't good comedy. For an example of good, offensive comedy watch Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The one thing I hate about Family Guy right now is the constant political stuff. Ok, we get it, you don't like Bush or any other Republicans for that matter, but being so in your face about it is just annoying. It's one thing to have Bob Dole fall asleep while he's talking to Peter (funny), but the whole oil comment, followed by the McCain/Palin pin on the Nazi uniform was just too much.

Does anyone else really hate it when they do the musicals? They just stop whatever it is they're doing and sing. They're being offensive one minute, and then singing.

Eh. It'll still be popular no matter how bad the backlash gets. It'll always be a fan fav with frat boys and other types like that. I myself watch it, not because it's got the best humor, but because every now and then they do really hit a note in almost every episode where it's funny.

The backlash probably started like the season after it came back. The South Park episode really ignited it.

I guess they're going with a Bush bashing bit every episode.

After all the shots they made against Family Guy over the years, hearing Matt Groening whine about MacFarlane "pushing it too far" made me laugh. Can't have it both ways, pal!

And this is coming from someone who increasingly can't stand MacFarlane & Co.'s "liberal ********" on Family Guy.

I agree with the above poster - enough with the musical numbers. Thankfully, the last couple of episodes have all but avoided Herbert!

I still like watching Family Guy... Some episodes are better than others but thats how all shows are

Hey, any show that manages to incorporate rape and Aquaman into the same joke has got something good going on.

two back to the future references in one season? Its not getting any funnier. I love the show and still think its hilarious...star wars references and indiana jones multiple references are cool but i just got 2 b2tf ones in a row.

The Simpsons never did anything even remotely similar to what Family Guy did in terms of taking shots against each other. Groening has a right to be pissed.

They've gone out of their way to openly crap on Family Guy alot. MacFarlane & Co. should be able to give their own "replies" if they so wish. Groening's being a hypocrite.

As much as I can't personally stand him, I never heard MacFarlane whine to the public about it...

That's because they've never had a character on The Simpsons try to rape Lois, then have sex with her, then kill the entire Griffin family :o

Like I said, the Simpsons staff doesn't seem to like it when someone goes after them as much as they've gone after Family Guy. :whatever:

One of THE GREATEST (musical) MOMENTS in the history of the show....hands down.

They actually sound pretty damn good! LOL. :woot:

Yeah, normally I hate those parts, but that one was pretty awesome from a musical standpoint.
