With the 52 events having unfolded can anyone give a Reader's Digest Recap of what has happened and if they know, what the implications are for future stories. Has Superman's origins changed, etc? I went into a comic store yesterday and was lost!

52 was about the heroics of superheros with the trinity around(superman, batman, wonderwoman). Superman/Clark was depowered at the end of infinite crisis and doesnt regain his powers till the one year later issues of superman.

His origin has slightly changed but its unknown how big they are(so far superman overall hasn't changed or referenced events that goes against previous tellings).

Overall 52 doesnt effect superman at all.

Since the one year later titles, superman has gone back to normal.

52 hasn't affected Superman at all as storyteller said, but Infinite Crisis pretty much made Superman have no origin story (neither Man of Steel and Birthright are in continuity).

From the glimpses we've seen so far, it's largely Silver Age based with Clark as Superboy and a former member of the Legion of Superheroes, Krypton is an exact replica of the Krypton from Richard Donner's Superman movies, Superman makes his debut by catching the plane, etc.

I didn't want to create a new thread so I'll just ask my question here. What is the different between earth-1 and earth 2 superman? What is the history between these 2? From the info I gathered online, earth-2 superman was the superman in the early action superman comics in the 30's-50's. Why did DC decide to make 2 supermen? Why not just have one?

Earth-1 Superman is the Silver Age Superman and Earth-2 Superman is the Golden Age Superman.

Earth-2 Superman is the guy who fought against the Nazis in World War II, grew to a very old age, was one of the few survivors of the multiverse in the COIE, and was killed by Superboy-Prime in IC.

Earth-1 Superman was the Superman who fought in our day and age.

The reason why there are two Supermen is because when comics went into decline after World War II, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman were pretty much the only characters that made sense to keep publishing. And when DC rebooted in the 60's with a new Green Lantern, Flash, etc. They rebooted Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman to be right alongside them.

Plus they got really big into the multiverse for some reason.

Now that the multiverse is back, we really don't know what the modern Earth-1 Superman is, though from the looks of it, it's the Silver Age DCU. And on Earth-2, it's the Golden Age DCU but Superman and Power Girl are missing because their Superman was killed and Power Girl is on New Earth.
