What highly anticipated movie were you most excited more before it was released? Was it Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace? Was it The Dark Knight Rises? Vote and share your thoughts on that movie and other movies you couldn't wait to see!

I was a wee child when the Phantom Menace came out, but it was so anticipated that the passionate embers of its anticipation has traveled through time and affects me after the fact. I can hear the cries of fanboys bloated with not peeing for three days at the front of the theater even now if I listen.

I was pretty small when the Phantom Menace came out, although I did see it in theaters.
Avengers for me though. Never been more excited for any film.

Spider-Man 2.

Was very unwell before release and didn't think I'd make it to see the movie

The Lord of the Rings:Fellowship of the Ring

I first read the books in 1970....so I had waited 30 years to see a live action movie based upon them. It was a glorious day when it arrived.

Of the ones listed, I voted for Spider-Man 3. I was so excited for that one. If I'd been older when I came out, it would be Phantom Menace (it was the first movie I ever saw in theaters).

I can't think of a movie I've ever been more excited for than The Amazing Spider-Man 2 though.

I waited 3 years to see Return of the Jedi.
I waited 5 years to see a new Back to the Future film.
I waited 6 years see a new Superman movie after Superman Returns.
I waited 9 years to see a Hobbit film after the Return of the King.
I waited 16 years to see Star Wars Episode 1.
I waited 19 years to see a new Superman film and we got Superman Returns.

Others - the first LOTR (2001). Why wasn't that choice in your poll?

But on the list you presented, it's Avengers.

The Dark Knight. I had been eagerly anticipating that one since seeing the final scene of Batman Begins and it went above and beyond my expectations.

Revenge of the Sith, The Avengers, The Hobbit, and Return of the King come close as well.

Phantom Menace
Avengers
Lord of the rings (1st one).

In that order. Born in 78 so grew up with all the Star Wars toys/films. So gutted when actually saw Menace. How can a film released 20 years later look so much worse?

As a Star Wars nerd, obviously my excitement for Episode I was huge. Second from that list was definitely The Avengers. Not on that list: Revenge of the Sith.

1. Matrix Reloaded - The first one was one of my favorite movie going experiences ever.
2. The Phantom Menace - The return of Star Wars, nuff said.
3. Avengers - The culmination of the Marvel Studios development going back before 2008.

Only Avengers exceeded expectations. In fact the others were huge disappointments.

From that list,I'd say Episode I.This was my pre-internet days when I devoured every issue of Star Wars Insider like a starving man.

It was cool getting excited over the littlest bit of info they provided.I remember my uncle bustin' my chops about it.:woot:

"Oooh look!Wait'll I tell the guys in work next week!I saw a photo of a tank for Star Wars sitting on the studio back lot.":o

Maybe T2 and the first Spider-Man out of those on the list. Nowadays I feel like I'm probably getting to old to get really excited about big budget blockbusters.

The Dark Knight Rises: I wasn't following the production of TDK. Loved it when I saw it (TDK), wondered just what Nolan had in mind for part three (I still thought Two-Face was going to be the part three villain, based on a really old interview with Goyer). Seeing leaks of the battle for Gotham really peaked my interest. Rumors of the LoS dampened my excitement. Then I saw the film a couple of times to be sure I caught everything, and it became my favorite comic book film.

Man of Steel.

I have never anticipated anything more in my entire life!

My head was literally throbbing with anticipation and excitement when Casino Royale's pre-title sequence began. Never really had that same experience before or since.
