hey everyone Adam the movie guy here. i saw Superman Returns wednsday night and i've had a few days to think about the stuff i loved and the things i hated about this film. first off the whole idea about superman leaving earth for five years was one of the worst ideas. if you watch Superman 2 he even says he will never leave ever again. i think the whole idea of leaving everyone he loves and cares about is truly one of the most horrrable ideas in the superman legacy next to having nick cage playing superman. has a writer/ director and comic book lover i was outraged. if i could have written this film i would have had Superman exile himself after failing to stop a major disaster or an attack. that's why i think his return would have mean meaning then his search for his home world.

I also hated Kate bosworth as Lois Lane. lois lane is supposed to be a spunky, smart ass, self driven reporter. bosworth failed at that. i think Rachel McAdams would have been better and Zooey Deschanel would have been amazing. i also thought about Selma blair or Amanda peet.

also Bryan singer can't direct action. he should stick to doing indie movies. he was the wrong director for x-men and x-men 2. this film could have been amazing. so many flying scenes would have been awesome if not for the horrable coloring of the film, the scene when lois and superman fly around the city was so dark you could barely tell what was going on. i thought the flying was amazing i just wanted to see more of it and more of him flying in the day time. i like the suit except for the \S/ on his belt. and i miss the yellow \s/ on the back of the cape.

this film was also cut to peices and they took out scenes that should have been kept and the left in scenes that didn't do anything for the film. i thought this film felt rushed. it felt like the didn't take their time with this film. i think they had to rush to make the June 28 dead line.

i liked Kevin Spacy as Lex Luthor he was a mix of the gene hackman luthor and luthor from the animated tv show. however his plan was so stupid. stop with the whole land stuff. we saw it in Superman 1 and 2. i also hated to the stupid plot whole with him being released from prison. no way in hell would he ever be set free. first off he killed some guards, he stole and used nuclear bombs on the united states, he tried to destoy L.A. he made a pack with Zod and his brood. he should have been excacuted for treason.

i loved Brandon Routh as Superman. this was Singers only good choice when making this film. the guy is Chris Reeve reborn. however the script he was given was horrable. however i loved the scene at the end when he is talking to his son. that scene made be tear up a little.

but the thing i hated the most about this film was the complete lack of an orginal ideas when making this film. they screwed this film up just like the shot for shot remake of Psycho. i feel like i was watching SUPERMAN 1: REDUX. what Singer did was take the easy route when it came to making a superman film. i have read many fan scripts that were ten times better then this one. i really tried to love this film. i remeber going into with excitement and walking out with a little bit of smerk on my face. it was like a bad episode of Lois and Clark. it just didn't feel right. i think they should have had a new begining instead of just carbon copying Donner's Superman. for god sakes every supergeek fan have been waiting 11 years for this film and i felt so dissapointed just like with the Phantom Menace. i wanted to see something new i just got handed something that was updated. this is the problem with Hollywood, this was pretty much a remake of Superman 1. that's why i love Batman Begins so much. it was the perfect Superhero film. i think it's *beep* when bryan singer says he loves the character and that he knows everything about him. well if you really truly knew the character and you wanted to make a sequal from Superman 2 then you created the biggest plot hole in the film. how can Lois's kid have powers when Superman and Lois got "BUSY" when he was human. COME ON!!!!! how did the writers not know that. i'm sorry that i'm ripping this movie apart. like i said i did like this film alot. the special effects were amazing but i can;t understan where 260 million dollars went. i don't mean to be a dick but i just had higher hopes for this film. don't be mad at me people on the board i'm just sharing my opinion. if i was to rate on a scale from 1-10 i give a 7.5-8 thank you for your time. just don't rip me a new one. :supes:
