spoiler warning below.

ok, so Mysterio hated tony stark. Do you reckon if he launched his plan against Tony it might have turned out very differently?

I actually think Mysterio would have pulled it off. So much of far from home is about how Peter isn’t the new Iron Man, he’s spider-man. As in, he had to succeed in a way tony wouldn’t have. Plus when you think about how Peter defeated him with that super cool spider sense sequence, a talent tony doesn’t have, it’s possible it could have gone Mysterio’s way if tony was the target.

What do you think?

This is an easy one: Tony would have kicked his ass. Beck's scheme fundamentally wouldn't work against an opponent with such tech power as Tony had.

And I suspect that Beck knew this, on some level, which is why he only came out with a big villainous revenge scheme *after* Tony was safely dead. Even in his ego, he couldn't convince himself or others that going after Tony would end in anything but humiliating defeat.

It's fiction. Stark is the hero. The fictional hero would win with the aid of writing.

And Tony would have had a failsafe. Or someone with a failsafe, like say,...Happy or Pepper.

Probably the dumbest part of the movie, that Tony built a devastating weapons system that no one else could control or abort if the original holder of the tech was removed from the equation.

If Mysterio revealed Tony's secret identity, Tony would've simply admitted "I am Iron Man."

Then he would've added that he already revealed that 11 years ago. Or 16 years ago if you add 5 years.

Of course, it almost certainly wouldn't even get to that point, because Tony would see through the illusions right quick thanks to supertech sensors and AI assistance. At which point it would be a race between whether he'd shoot them all down while largely ignoring their attacks, or just hack their network and shut them down.

Iron Man is just fundamentally a hero at least a full tier beyond Beck's ability to meaningfully fight, maybe two.

If this scenario had happened it would have been an Iron Man movie with an extended Spider_Man cameo.

Beck didn't do anything until after Tony died. Why was that? Why wait so long? Because he knew he'd get his ass whipped if he went up against Tony.

Once he figures out everything is special effects, then what? Iron Man vs a guy in a mo-cap suit? Lol.

Tony would have been able to run scans or something and figure out it was hologram-projecting drones. And it's not like Beck can actually fight superheroes or anything.

Tony basically just asks FRIDAY to scan for threats. She picks up on a bunch of holograms and drones. Tony switches to heat vision or something, launches those mini missiles from his shoulder at the drones and wipes the floor with Beck.

Plus he's recording everything and can combat Becks video.

In this movie, Beck's tech isn't developed enough to trick Tony's systems.

It worked on Pete because he relied heavily on his eyes. It wasn't until he started using his "Peter tingle" (I hate that term) that we saw him grab the gun from Mysterio.
