What would everyone think if the real reason Spidey is wearing the black costume in feburary's amazing spider-man is because the marvel universe goes back to when he once had it? Like, if they were in some kind of time warp to where the comics were in the mid 80's when he had the costume. Now, I honestly don't think this is going to happen, but what if it did? I mean, spidey wouldn't be married to MJ and his identity would be secret again. What would you think if this happened?

That's creative thinking. Don't know how it would work out in the long run. It would wind up being a new version of Heroes Reborn/Heroes Return. We've been down that road before.

I'm convinced it's just a matter of his attitude and to tie in with Spider-Man 3.

Think about it....

After Civil War, he's on his own again. He's alone. MJ and Aunt May might be out of the picture, finally convincing them to leave and lay low for a while. Everyone knows his identity, they're targets. He feels betrayed by Tony, by many former allies. Things have gone wrong. The costume reflects Pete's new darker, broodier, unhappy outlook. How far he'll go towards the Dark Kni...er, Spider, I don't know and hope it's not too far (we don't need a rework of the original symbiote storyline, though completeing a "fix" of Venom would be welcome. I hate the new look)

Pictures from Previews show the costume being torn, so I'm willing to say it's cloth, not symbiote, at the very least.

That can't be right, with Aunt May knowing his secret a new costume is never more than a needle and thread away! At least the way the books have portrayed her recently she can sew and cook faster than any human alive!

Seriously though, I don't mind a shameless tie in to the movie, anything that helps more people pick up the books, now if only Marvel would learn how to write Spidey I'd be happy!

Maybe he's still haunted by the event and doesn't want to wear it, or it holds a symbolic purpose for him, so it's more of a "I'll keep this to remember you dude, but I'm not gonna wear it" thing? I could be wrong though?

Wow, that would retcon a massive amount of stuff...Most of it being stuff that never added anything substantive to the various Marvel titles...
Let's see, Jean Grey would be dead but not brought back yet...THAT could be a great opportunity, since they bungled it so terribly in X-Factor #1...The Hulk would be the old "Hulk smash" Hulk...No Johnny Storm/Alicia relationship (later clumsily retconned)...Hmmm.
But yeah, most importantly, no marriage to MJ and no lost secret identity.

I wouldn't wager on how long they'll stick with this "Everyone knows Pete is Spidey" business, but I seriously can't see it being official canon even 5 years from now.

I would kill myself, not even playing. Don't get me wrong, I love Spider-man from the 80's and 90's, but I really hate time travel.

Interesting idea. It might be worth the contrivance for it to happen. Think about it; what better way to tie-in with Spider-Man 3 than to have Pete "re-live" the black suit crises for the first time.

IMO, if that were me I'd be a little bit creeped out. "Yep, this is the costume an exact replica of me used to wear before he was impaled." However, I do think he would probably put that on before the black costume (as you said, MJ hated it).

Definitely an interesting theory (the topic), but I doubt it'll happen. Firstly, CW is too much of a "gritty, realistic" type of story for it to result in some massive, continuity altering mystical event - if anything, it would have to be a story along the lines of House of M or similar. Secondly, as much as fans are unhappy with the way Spidey is written at the moment, I doubt they'd be happy with *everything* from that past 20 or so years essentially being scrapped (re: Clone Saga).

Now, I think it might make for an interesting story arc or mini-series if done right, but I don't think there'll be anything like that that'll stick in-continuity.
