I keep seeing people refer to 616 Spidey. Is this a particular issue or what? I haven't read Spidey in over three years. Leave it to me to pick up "The Other" a couple months ago because it looked cool. I should've read these boards first as it did in fact . . . suck.

The number 616 is basically used to describe the main, Marvel universe. The beings known as the Watchers, use numbers to label specific universes and parallel dimmensions.

People pretty much use the 616 designation to avoid confusion with the Ultimate line(Earth 1610)

I understand why people use 616 because it's easier to type than "regular universe", but it just confuses the HELL out of people. And it makes Spider-Man look like the devil. :o Almost.
