I've heard this said alot in the threads and I'm assuming it has something to do with the original Spider-man Universe, as in not Ultimate or Spider-girl... What exactly is it?

wikipedia said:In the fictional Marvel Comics multiverse, Earth-616 or Earth 616 is the name used to identify the primary continuity in which most Marvel Comics titles take place.
wikipedia said:The series is a modernized reimagining of Marvel's long-running Spider-Man comic book franchise. Ultimate Spider-Man is set outside the Marvel Universe continuity, in the Ultimate Marvel Universe, which it introduced...
wikipedia said:Note an alternate universe special issue of Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe in 2005 designated "Ultimate Marvel Universe" as Earth-1610.
wikipedia said:Spider-Girl (May "Mayday" Parker) is a comic book superheroine, active in an alternate future of the Marvel Comics universe...May "Mayday" Parker is the child of Peter and Mary Jane Parker in a future, alternate universe continuity. In the MC2 continuity, they were reunited with their baby daughter by Kaine, who found the child living with Alison Mongraine, the con artist who had kidnapped the baby on instruction from the Green Goblin.
note: my bet is that the 616 baby may is being raised by kaine...wikipedia said:Also, an alternate universes special of Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe revealed that the earth of MC2 heroes has its starting of "The Age of Marvels" 15 years earlier than it did on Earth-616 and is designated as Earth-982 while there are also two earths featuring alternate counterparts of Spider-Girl -- Earth-1122 (in which she is raised by Kaine) and Earth-9997, the world of Earth-X, in which she has been bonded with the Venom symbiote.
wikipedia said:In addition to his original powers, Spider-Man gains the following abilities after he fights the Queen in "Disassembled" (The Spectacular Spider-Man vol. 2 #15-20, 2004), and also after apparently dying at the hands of the vampire Morlun and being reborn ("Spider-Man: The Other," 2005).
He also has night vision and stingers, gained from the Other, when he died and was reborn in a cocoon. (wikipedia doesnt distill it down this well!)wikipedia said:In "Disassembled," Spider-Man develops the ability to shoot organic webbing from his wrists, making his web-shooters unnecessary....Spider-Man can mentally communicate with arthropods...
