One that you can still read over & over? One that you may find yourself running to just to escape all the current madness? One that reminds you why you got into comics in the first place?
AND WHY DO YOU LOVE IT SO MUCH?

Ultimates vol 1 and 2 and Watchmen.

i think my all time favourite is kingdom come.

But some other worth giving much respect to are..

secret wars (the proper one!)
Union Jack's Mini
the death and return of superman (which is what got me back into comics..)

I guess mine would be "The Anniversary Syndrome". I love how it had Spidey honoring Uncle Ben's death & revisiting the reason why he does what he does.

the entire 13 issue run of Green Goblin...it was USM before there was a USM

Speaking exclusively about Marvel, really I might be alone in this one but the Inhumans by Jenkins and Lee. I could throw out an obivious answer like Marvels, Kraven's Last Hunt or somehting like that. But its not my style. And fairly recently the first arc of X-Factor really got me excited about comics right now.

Defalco, I think.
Ah, explains it. That was my era of being engrossed in spider-man and comics. I heard good things of it. I have some comics from him (Defalco's spider-man) that are a joy to read, even now.

Most of the stories I re-read now are Coming Home, Walking Dead and whatever I've bought recently, like Powers arcs and Y the Last Man.
I have many reprints but don't have a defined favourite reread. I'd say my fave spider-man story was probs Coming Home and seeing as I started on Spider-Man that'll probs have to stand out as my defining fave for now.
EDIT: WHY? Because it has action, drama, family, parker luck, it's the first time I'd REALLY seen him in trouble (I read the clone saga in reprints, when I already knew how it ended) and I liked both Morlun and Ezekiel and it's the story I left comics on, when I hadn't finished it. So... it took me like 4years, or whatever it's been, to get the whole story and when I got it I loved it. I think it'll stay with me. Though I have a "read only" copy... :(

Inhumans came to me at a time when comics werent that great, to me at least. It came out in 1998 I believe and it was different, gripping, fantastic. Every issue was well written with gorgeous art. Interesting, like the whole issue narrated by Lockjaw. It really was a gem in my eyes in a time where all the 90's stuff was dying down and comics were really in a bad place, but heading upwards. Possibly one of the best things to come out of the Jemas era.

Kingdom Come

I read this a couple months ago,and I've never been more touched by a superhero book.I hate to sound cheesy, but everything just comes together in this book.Ross' art is on as always and the whole idea of people seeing Superman as irrelevant and old fashioned really appealed to me because that's the way I saw Superman before I read this. The separation between humanity and the old guard with everyone seeing the Justice League as gods rang very true to me.DC's heroes were always unrelateable to me because they were always too removed from the "everyman".After reading this,I was just in awe.The moment where Superman has Marvel by the mouth just before the bomb drops is probably one of,if not thee, most touching moment I've read in a comic.

I just got Watchmen,Astro City 1 and Top 10 1 in the mail today so we'll see if my thoughts change.

Marvel: The kid who collects Spider-Man. That was Marvel's finest hour.

DC: Superman: For All Seasons. That book really showed how Superman was the greatest. Not because of his powers, but because of his heart.

Marvel: Avengers Forever. That book had everything. Captain Marvel. Two hank Pyms, super strong Cap, Martian invasion, 1950's Avengers, Dark futures and crazy pasts. Best Avengers story ever.

DC: Starman: The Grand Guignol

Loved that whole thing. Starman's last stand. Dying of cancer, ole Ted Knight's back, and he's gonna save Opal city from this massive invasion of supervillians. Culp, Bobo Benetti, The Mist's, The Shade, man, that was one kickass story.
