What is your favorite Harry Potter movie and I added the sixth movie to the poll cuz some have seen it. Prepare to discuss.

It's still Azkaban. Just love the overall look of the film and I thought the story was excellent. Cuaron definitely made it his own. But Half-Blood Prince may give it a run for its money. So I'll wait to vote until I see it.

POA was definitely the best.

POA most definately. Lost the candy ass tone of the first two and now said that this series is growing up. And it was handeled in the best way possible. Just the atmosphere, it felt like the books to me, the brilliant castin of Oldman as Black. And Dan starting to come into his own as an actor. It's moving in some aspects as well. Best film in the series to the best book in the series.

Askaban followed by Goblet Of Fire...I'm still disappointed Cuaron directed only one movie.

I find the first two overly childish and the fifth mediocre and poorly edited.

Yeah, I really wish WB had chosen a better director than Colombus for HP1 and 2.

I'm really thinking HBP will be my favorite. Judging from early word of mouth, it seems to be the best one yet. However, at the moment, my favorite is "Goblet of Fire". To me, it was the most entertaining HP movie, and it was the first time Dan Radcliffe really showed his acting chops, especially during the scene when he brought back Cedric's body. And it also gave us Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort.

Azkaban by a long mile or two...Just nothing compares!

What's weird though is that there was a lot of "stylized darkness" and just that alone makes it darker than the films with actual killings and crap!

POA is the greatest HP movie, god damn BRING BACK CUARON!!!!

Prisoner of Azkaban. It's masterfully directed, incredibly mature and character focused, and like you guys have said it made the series grow up. The camera work maybe the best I've seen in a big budget film as well.

Here's how I order them.

1. Prisoner of Azkaban
2. Order of the Phoenix
3. Goblet of Fire
4. Chamber of Secrets
5. Sorcerer's Stone

Prisoner of Azkaban easily & it's also my favorite book too.

same here

Wow, who voted for Chamber of Secrets?

^He probably meant to choose the option below it. If he didn't, there are some problems.

Definitely The Prison of Azkaban for me. Alfonso Cuaron is the best director that had his hands on a Harry Potter film. It's a shame he won't be doing anymore.

We haven't even seen HBP yet...simma down.

Definitely Azkaban for me. But OotP isn't too far behind it, and I do think it had a tighter screenplay (why oh why did Steve Kloves have to come back?!?!). I wasn't much of a fan of the other films at all really, just those two. Looking forward to HBP though - mainly because of Yates returning (not as good as Cuaron, sure, but I think he's the next best option. Loved his State of Play.) and Bruno Delbonnel's cinematography. He and Roger Deakins are my absolute favorite cinematographers in the business.

This is vote number 2 for Chamber of Secrets. I couldn't care less if you think i'm crazy. It captured the tone of the book perfectly and was the last of the movies to stay as faithful to the books content as possible. (I's actually one of my least favourite of the books) Plus it gave us Kenneth Brannagh as Guilderoy Lockheart

I'd never vote PoA number 1 because Cuaron was responsible for giving us the worst Dumbldore possible. Since Azkaban my faith in them making a decent HP movie has gradually declined as each one continues to make unnecessary changes and choices of what to leave out. Yates made the worst film with OotP and I couldn't believe they kept him on for the rest of the franchise, which is why I have little hope for HBP. Not to mention of what we know he's left out of the movie.

I would have said Prisoner of Azkaban, but since you put Half Blood Prince in there as well, I'll have to wait until I see that one because I think I'll probably enjoy this one more.

Definately Prison of Azkaban, although i havent seen Half blood prince yet so my favourite may change.

Probably Goblet of Fire. Azkaban is probably my favorite right after. Same as the books actually.

Definitely Prisoner of Azkaban. Its the only Potter film that can stand on its own as one of the most unique fantasy movies of all time. Plus that was the best score by John Williams, and the addition of Gary Oldman as Sirius Black and David Thewlis as Remus Lupin was an outstanding choice. I hope we get a few scenes with Lupin in Half-Blood Prince.

We're still a week away from HBP

I won't make an official vote til then, but I'd say of the previous 5, pencil me in as a COS fan also!!!

I have loved all the movies, but POA I don't feel was the best. Dark doesn't equal best quality, and some of you said it was the best cause it was the darkest. I don't go along with that line of logic. COS had an interesting plot and great feel. Plus, Lockheart was the MAN!

I'll rank them all after I see HBP, so don't take this post as my official stance. I'm just responding to the POA lovefest and COS hating.

It was more faithful because the second and first books weren't as long so they could fit more in. :whatever:

And who cares what they take out and what they leave in? There's some stuff in OOTP that they should of left in but as long as the spirit is there it's fine.

I never compare book to film. They're two different mediums and when adapting you have ot make compromises to fit a two hour film.

Not one person in this entire thread said they loved the film because it was dark...lmao.

:o

The first two movies were so faithful to the books because the books were super short. It is easier to make a movie based on a 200 page book than it is to make one based on an 800 page book. Because, a lot of things have to be cut from the 800 page book and they can't make a 5 hour movie.
