Since Geoff Johns' began his Green Lantern run he's brought back a lot of old Green Lantern characters and has even completely rebooted a lot of them... Black Hand, Hector Hammond, The Manhunters, The Controllers, Star Sapphires... Even The Rocket Reds. The man is so talented he even managed to make The Shark into a total Bad Ass!

So what other characters of old do you want to see brought back? Would you change them in any way and if so, how?

Me? Two words- Evil Star!

This is a character who has always been one of the classic GL villains. He's been in every volume of the book, made appearances in the spin-offs and has even turned up in the animated JLU show.
So, i guess what i'm wondering is why a writer as gifted and well-versed in Lantern lore as Johns' hasnt brought him back in some way? HE's brought almost all of the other major players back and Evil Star is notable by his absence...

Evil Star is a given. Sonar and Dr. Polaris also.

Well, Sonar got a brief cameo early on in Vol.4... Didnt go too well for him if memory serves... Hehe.

No

I also misunderstood the thread title

Yeah, thought it mighta been something like that. If you're looking for Guy Gardner action, though, he's still rockin' it over in the GLC book... Definitely worth checkin' out.

Well for me it is Evil Star, like you. the difference is that I do not believe in the potential of characters like Sonar or the Shark. The Shark evolution was neat but that's it. Shark are feared all over the world I thought it was a good idea to illustrate the fact that Hal Jordan has no fear by making him fight the Shark, but I think that's it. Just like Sonar. I liked a lot the whole "master of the sound thing", that was fun, but I do not believe in his potential. And that what makes other villains better in my opinion. I'm glad he is considered as a loser. And even if I like Dr Polaris a bit , I do not think his potential is great, the Magneto light, no thanks. As a superman villains, yes, master of magnetism against the man of steel, yes, not in GL world.
For the Darkstars, honestly, I do not want to see them return. As soon as they were created I thought they were copies of the GL corps, and now with 7 corps in space, I think it is far from enough. In fact I thought the Alpha Lantern candidates would have been the Darkstars. Incorporating them into the corps. Maybe in an alternative universe, but not in the "main" one.

So in the end, I'm waiting for G.Johns to build up Evil star, but I think the character has a huge potential and enormous possibilities so I think the more time he takes to build him, the better it is. A slightly revised uniform would be cool and above all the deleting of the small "evil stars children" always helping him. Why not transform the idea and make him control people with atsrs , a link with starro maybe ?
For the record, I'm glad Mongul left the gallery of Superman foes to be in the GL ones. A interstellar conqueror ? It is about time !
Good thread btw.

Amped up, the Tatooed Man could work. The original version of him was a chump change foe, but with a good power up he's dangerous.

The "ink' used in his tatooes was a mix of Black, Red and Blue lantern brands of "Occult Energy" (as it was called by Krona in the Secret Origins of the Guardians tale). Each symbol on his skin is a specific type of command over the energy (smash, burn, lift, crush etc) and manifests by his will.

In putting those energies into his body he is able to draw raw power from death, hope and hate ambient to sentient minds to recharge them.

Not as ultra versatile as a ring wielder, he's still very formidable and being triple sourced his occult energy has to be overpowered by A LOT more power from any single source. (Gl, Sinestro and Star Sapphire combined could match him, but they're in trouble one on one or even two on one.)

Hector Hammond got messed up by becoming paralyzed. Post Crisis DC tried to revamp him, leave him mobile, tied his origin to the origin of Grood and Gorrilla city. But someone decided because he'd been made a cripple in a chair back in Broome's day, he had to be returned there.

It didn't work too well in the comics and will utterly die in what are called Motion Pictures.

Unmoving Hector is great. It makes him more creepy.

Agreed. It makes him more other-worldly and adds to the messed up Scanners vibe that the character gives off... Having said that i'm perfectly fine with him getting his body back in the books...

Yeah, it's being hinted at in the books that he's secretly recovering physical movement. I've been reading so many GL back issues lately, i cant remember which issue this happens in. I'd say it's probably a relatively recent one, though.

I only remember of Hector recovering his hability of speaking on that Kroloteans story arc.

Ah. That was it. Apologies, as i said i've been reading so many old issues recently.. It must've gotten a little mixed up there.

But my point stands. Do you really think all he got back was his speech?

Knowing Hammond, I reckon he's planning something. Even the way the scene is written, it's like "Ooooh, just wait to you see whst happens next."
