I picked Phoenix / Jean Grey for the same reason - telekinetically bringing stuff to me sounds good and I want to be able to "fly" too. Then again to Teleport like Nightcrawler would be awesome.

If there were other superheroes/villains around I'd choose Mimic. I could just hang out with the awesome ones for a few hours and mooch their powers and make them my own forever.

If not then, Spider-Man. he has all sorts of cool powers, Strength, Speed, Agility, Spider-Sense.
