List 5 superhero films that you think are the best shot in the genre.

For me,

5. Man of Steel (Amir Mokri)

4. Batman Returns (Stephan Czapsky)

3. Spider-man 2 (Bill Pope)

2. Watchmen (Larry Fong)

1. Unbreakable (Euardo Serra)

Superman The Movie
The Dark Knight Trilogy
Man of Steel

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The Dark Knight Rises
Man of Steel
Iron Man 3
Batman Returns

Dark Knight Trilogy
Batman Returns
Hulk '03
Thor
Dick Tracy (if that counts)

In no particular order

- Watchmen (loved the way that they virtually reproduced panels from the graphic novel)

- The Dark Knight ( Wally Pfister works his magic, especially in the Hong Kong sequences) both Batman Begins and Dark Knight Rises had some great work in them too.

- Man of Steel ( loved the establishing shots of Kansas, as well as all the catastrophic destruction)

- Guardians of the Galaxy (usually I don't like movies with so much CGI, but this one worked !)

- Spider Man (Raimi) the whole trilogy was well shot, particularly liked a few scenes from the first and third films (well, from a cinematography point of view for Spider-Man 3, which wasn't a strong film to end the series on ).

- The Quicksilver scene from DOFP was pretty impressive, probably the best scene Singer's ever done. On that note, although I HATED the film, there were some good shots in Superman Returns too.

Just IMO, as usual.

Alphabetical order;

Batman (1989)
Batman Begins
Batman Returns
Blade
Blade II
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight Rises
Hellboy
Hellboy II
Man of Steel
Superman: The Movie
Watchmen

-Spider-Man trilogy, specially SM2 and SM3.
-The Dark Knight Rises
-Iron Man
-CA The Winter Soldier
-Days of Future Past

The Dark Knight
Days of Future Past

Man of Steel was a visual feast but the shaky-cam really got on my nerves.

Watchmen, The Dark Knight and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Honestly I have no idea. Like editing, it's pretty much invisible to me. I don't tend to think about it at all, not like I think about the acting, the writing or even the score.

The first movie to come to mind is the first Iron Man movie.

Raimi's Spider-Man and Burton's Batman are great at that too.

Regardless of the film itself, I liked TASM2's a lot. Sunny, bright, lively, vivid colors. Not the best, but a good one.

^It sure looked good in the trailers. I'll give it that.

Sho nuff.
It's one of those movies that gets worse on repeated viewings (and thats not saying it was good the first time), but I can't deny that I was in awe of the visuals first time I saw it.

Agreed. The original shot of Spider-Man swinging the manhole cover in the first trailer is fantastic and one of the things that immediately drew me to the movie. It embodies everything you said--bright, lively, and vivid. It's a shame they changed it.

Also, as mentioned earlier, Superman Returns. It's unfortunate the movie isn't better, but it has some damn good looking moments. I really like the cinematography in The Dark Knight, as well.

Man of Steel is outright stunning in spots, but hampered by the overdone handheld shots. Superman Returns would've looked great if Singer and Sigel filmed it on 35mm, not on crappy Panavision Genesis cameras.

Tim Burton's Batman is so well lit and staged, it makes me want to do the cha cha like a sissy girl.

Batman 89
Watchmen
The Dark Knight
Man of Steel
Guardians of the Galaxy
