What things have way too much hatred aimed at them?

I'll start: Avatar.

Really? I think Avatar gets too much love.

But I say Twilight.

Everything is both over-hated and over-liked, as this is the internet and the middle ground is the worst thing to ever happen to anything ever. Yes, even worse than the Holocaust and that time my toast landed butter side down combined.

The story. The fact that it was hardly groundbreaking in any important way. The responsibility it holds for being the harbinger of new 3D, which sucks as much as old 3D.

Pochantas with Alien Smurfs. Basically Avatar's story. It's still a fun silly little science fiction movie. There's just not much of anything groundbreaking about it.

Don't forget FernGully and Dances with Wolves. And I agree on the rest.

Definatly Michael Cera and the whole Apatow Crew. And Iron Man 2 being a commercial for the Avengers.

i don't think anyones ever said or felt that the story of avatar is groundbreaking... it's the film making that's groundbreaking. I get annoyed when people confuse this. The film had some of the best CG ever to grace the screen, and so far i haven't seen a 3D film compare to it's 3D technology.

but no one, has praised the story as unique and original in theme... i don't think ive even seen or read Cameron saying that.

Movies need that. SFX should be secondary.

Everywhere I go people are ranting and raving about how bad Avatar is. What about this movie deserves so much hate?

It's mostly hated because it was so loved. People were going on about how it was the best movie of the year, when in a lot of people's opinions it was a really generic and mediocre sci-fi film with nice special effects and cinematography. Sort a style VS. substance issue.

Bingo. I don't give a **** about groundbreaking style. I want substance and MEAT in my movies. There wasn't much of that to Avatar.

I think most people hate Avatar for political reason but disguise their hate as an artistic integrity issue.

A political reason? REALLY?

I don't hate the story of Avatar for a political reason in fact. I AGREE with the message Avatar tries to send about how the army was wrong and the destruction of the aliens home.

I just think that substance in a movie should be something that should be more apt to praise than ''Oh, it's visual effects were amazing."

I really don't get the Micheal Cera bashing.

He acts the same in every movie? So does Robert Deniro, Jack Nicholson, and Christopher Walken.

And there is a difference between type casting and a lack of talent. I thought Scott Pilgrim was pretty different from his other characters.
