What was the fastest download speed you ever downloaded?

an average would depend on what provider you have, but a 40kb is really slow
for your 2nd question well i have Verizon Fios (not sure if its in your area) and their are the best imo, the service doesnt go through a land line (phone line) it has its own cable that uses my cable wires

My downloads typically go anywhere from 1MB/s to 1.4MB/s with some going slightly higher or lower depending of the specific download.

wow...so is DSL a thing of the past, like Dial-up turned out? I feel like an idiot knowing how slow my connection is now.

On average I would say I'm right around 150 - 200 kb/s, although recently I've been reaching 400 or 500 kb/s.

On a side note, I had a friend one time complain about how slow his downloads were. He then informed me that he was ONLY getting about 1 mb/s. I was like, "holy crap!"

When I worked at an ISP, I had T3 access, so about 30-40MBps?

At home, with DSL, I get 500kb on average, sometimes getting as high at 750kb.

But Time Warner Cable is advertising internet service that downloads up to 15 MBps...
