Night Swim, another well different movie a horror movie where the nemesis is evil pool water :funny: fun fact the 2 main leads are in the MCU Russell was U.S. Agent and Condon was F.R.I.D.A.Y.

This was pretty good! Had very little expectations and I was pleasantly surprised.
Russell Crowe can turn any dull role into something interesting.

It's on Netflix, but playing in a few select theaters, so that's how I saw it. Yeah, this is going to be one of my favorite films of the year, with Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Natasha Lyonne (who I haven't seen in many things) all giving top-tier performances.

I remember watching this some years ago and not really liking it for some reason but watching it again I definitely enjoyed it a lot more on a second watch especially now that I've seen quite a few of Saulnier's films. This feels so different compared to his later stuff, but man Macon Blair is one versatile, talented actor.

Damn this was actually pretty good and also feels very different from Saulnier's previous work. There isn't a lot of graphic onscreen violence like his other stuff, but the movie it still really brutal at times. Kudos to Aaron Pierre for being able to pull off an action hero with his physique and screen presence and I always love seeing Don Johnson pop up in stuff like this and he hasn't lost a step IMO. I can't even remember the last thing I saw Emory Cohen in, but I've always liked that dude even though he pretty much plays the same character in every film that I've seen him in lol.
