Xtro (1982)

Just saw this at a local "indie" theater and it was insane. I'd never seen it before and was thoroughly disgusted, appalled, and fascinated by it. Not even sure what to rate it. Fans of genre 80s sci-fi/horror movies might like it, but that's a stretch. The one thing I have to give the movie credit for are all of the practical effects. Today's CGI movies have nothing on the practical effects movies from the 80s and before!

Blood and Lace

Okay.

IN THIS CORNER OF THE WORLD (2016)

Dull movie that cut out some corners. I will not recommend it, but mention a baby talk this movie completely ignores, and how it mostly ignores the family of the primary character.

Anthropophagus and Absurd

Glad these didn't cost me any money. Absurd is by far the better film. Liked the first half of Anthropophagus a good bit, though.

Taken just as a movie I thought it was ok, Hardy threw himself fully into the role and carried the movie, there were some funny lines and a couple of decent action sequences. 6/10

The Strangers

Still holds up. For me, it's still my favorite Halloween knockoff.

The Witch

Even watching this at home again, I still feel the same when I saw it in theater. Robert Eggers is a master craftsman and I can't wait for his new movie next year.

The Last House on The Left (1972)

It's not exactly the exploitative horror movie I thought it was going to be. It is interesting how bare bones the budget was in this. You can tell it's Wes Craven's first film, there are kernels of good ideas and concepts, but it's done very amateurish. I will say just like many movies in the 70s, it's got that griminess that adds texture to the movie. Overall, while I don't think it holds up that well, it did help inspire other similar horror films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and I Spit on Your Grave.

Loved The Strangers, very underrated movie I think. Palpable tension.

DRAGON: THE BRUCE LEE STORY (1993)
Quality = 8/10
Joy = 10/10

25 years later and it didn't lose any joy points. :up:
Loses a couple of points in quality cause it is one of the most fake biopics made in history.

THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE (2017)
Quality = 9/10
Joy = 10/10

Animation is a bit choppy, it's awesome beside that.
