3D makes back the money!

The Dive should not need a big budget, its pretty much a 2 person movie, no cgi, could be done well under 50 million.

But you're talking about Cameron. 50 million will get him to consider it. add 300 more to that and 2 over-budgets later, he'll do it.

what's 'the dive'?

The Dive is Francisco Ferreras' life story, he and his wife were competitive free divers she died in a dive trying to break both the men and women's free dive record, he was accused of murder or in the least negligence, and still is considered by many the reason why she died. I don't know all of the specifics, but I think that is the center point of the conflict of the film at least.

I know that he wants to use this new technology on The Dive, but my hope is that he just leaves it to The Sanctum.

don't you think there are others better suited to direct such a small and personal picture?

I love Avatar, but I liked the way the Movie ended. I'm not in a hurry to see a sequel any time soon. So I'm all for Battle Angel Alita.

Cameron owns the rights to the story. It's a film he's had in development, about as long a Battle Angel Alita.

While true that Cameron has always made big movies most of his career, this would be his small and personal picture. Especially after spending 4 and a half years on Avatar.

He also has the rights to the Sports Illustrated story about this guy. He has made sure no one gets this story on film before he does...lol

he is a diver for 30 years right? i bet he wants to do this movie.

He loves anything that has to do with the ocean...one of the reasons why I'm a fan. That is why I was hoping he would take over Fathom.

you mean the fathom that is about a hot female character underwatter?

like the ultimate movie for Cameron :awesome:

p.s.: i was suprised that Cameron didnt have a scene underwatter in Avatar. he really.

I don't know if cameron is capable of directing the subtle nuances that comes with a small picture. he did it the first terminator movie but that was a long time ago. the upside is if it flopped he wouln't be losing the studio a lot of money.

Yes...

Avatar 2. I'm sure the studio would push for that.

i think the studio now realized that he should do what he wants to do.leave ''mr money maker'' alone :oldrazz:

with BA they would have to franchises. avatar and BA. :hehe:

after cameron makes BA the audience will say the story is derivative,

'hey, I saw a manga movie with the exact same plotline, cameron is a hack'

the question I want to ask cameron is, why BA?
why not akira, or ghost in the shell or ninja scroll, etc?
not saying alita is a bad movie but it certainly isn't the best of its genre (imho)

He has a thing for female protagonists, and he's been quoted as saying he is a massive fan of the manga itself. He's into anime and manga period, but that is one of his faves apparently.

I chose other.

I'm not a huge Anime fan and have yet to watch Battle Angel so I don't exactly have an opinion on that one.

As for Avatar 2...I think he should Not make a sequel. The first ended fine, he helped defend this alien race, got his ability to walk again and fell in love and permanently became one of them. As others have said, this movie is doing so well because of word of mouth...which has to do with the amazing effects and advancement in 3D. In short, doing a sequel with the same characters(or type of characters)wouldn't do nearly as well now that the curiosity coming from word of mouth is out.

Personally, aside from Battle Angel(which I'm open to, just need to check out the Anime)I think he should either make a new live action film or a entirely new film using this advance in CGI.

anyone who wants to check out battle angel alita who hasn't seen it already will have a little trouble as there is only the VHS version of it. so if you've thrown your video away then I don't know how you'll view this. it may be on youtube

why not ghost in the shell then? better story, string female lead, stronger background cast. strange one. I'm sure if he does eventually make this he will go into more detail why he chose BA.

Cameron should do whatever the heck he wants next, i have no personal preference :cwink:
