What's something you always wanted to read, but never got around to it?

I'm planning to start it as soon as I finish A Thousand Splendid Suns, which I'm almost finished with now.

We can add Alice in Wonderland to my list

so earlier i mentioned 2001 a space odyssey. well i read it. and its aaaaaaaaaaaaawesome.

At the Mountains of Madness and The Rum Diary are top of my list of books I want to read at the moment.

Did this thread motivate you to do so?

And how is it as compared to the film?

Brave New World, ive started it probably five times now and i always have a problem getting in to it. :o

ha, no it wasnt the thread. like i said, i had been wanting to read it and i was going on a quick road trip, so i bought it to read in the car.

and i think its MUCH better than the film.

Hmmm. William Gibson's Neuromancer.

I'm working on it now. It's pretty good.

I got a few:

Cryptonomicon
The Baroque Cycle (Quicksilver, The Confusion, The System of the World)
E.E. Smith's Lensman series (Triplanetary, First Lensman, Galactic Patrol, Gray Lensman, Second Stage Lensman, Children of the Lens)
The rest of the Dune series written by Frank Herbert
All of the Sherlock Holmes stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
The Complete Works of Lewis Carroll
The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe

The last 3 are those massive hardcovers that Barnes and Nobles sell

Proust. And I own a copy, too. Just haven't tackled it. I've tried Gravity's Rainbow twice, but it's very tough going with a never-ending stream of new characters.

I admire you about Dante.

You've dashed my hopes of feeling impactful :csad:

MUCH better than the film you say? Bold words. I may have to check it out at some point.

Thanks :)

I have copies of them on hand now, so I plan to start the first part tomorrow

I read the first book in the Dune series. It was great, and I highly recommend it. I have to get on Dune Messiah at some point myself.

I am bringing this thread back from the dead! Any updates on things they have wanted to read but haven't? I have finally read Dune and Dune Messiah. I am on Children of Dune now!

I want to add The Murder of Roger Akroyd to my list.

That's awesome! Glad to see some of us are actually getting around to that reading now

I bought myself all the Frank Herbert Dune novels, and I decided I am going to read both Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Duen since they're based on Frank's outline for Dune 7. I am early into Children of Dune, but so far, I like it.

The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx
Frederick Douglass' biography
Dracula by Bram Stoker

All three books have been available for really cheap, but something else caught my eye and I have yet to read them.
