My Fiance bought me a Raiders Of The Lost Arc Indy figure yesterday (the new movie ones are not out in the UK yet) and it looks nothing like Harrison Ford?

This is from Hasbro who can obviously make a figure with a likeness of Ford as shown with there recent Star Wars Figures, so why can't they get the likeness right with Indy?

If while making it they were having trouble getting the likeness right they could have just used a Han Solo head, change the hair and add a hat (it's the same company they own the moulds)

Any one have any idea why this is?

Is a Harrison Ford likeness THAT hard to do?

Ahem. They did use Han heads. :wow: You ever seen a Hasbro Han Solo. I have, Indy is not different.

Actually Harrison Ford owns the rights to his own image...so you'll never get a REALLY accurate Ford fig.

I've did a painfully long look over on the new Indy figs and this is what I determined. Of the ROTLA figs the one that to me looks closest to Ford is the one in a pack with the Temple Pit. I bought this figure and took off the head and put it on the another Indy. The best Indy for my money body-wise is one of the KOTCS figures that comes with Indy holding one of the crystal skulls. The figure has great poseability compared to some of the ones in the packs. The Temple Pit Indy had no knee or ankle joints, which sucks to me.

But I gotta say the KOTCS Indy with the crystal skull in his hand is the best one if you want one straight outta the package. Problem is he has a removeable hat which looks really funny once its on his head. The Temple Pit Indy's head doesn't have a removeable hat but the hat looks proportionate to his head and body. Thing is you gotta find a good Temple Pit Indy because the 5 o'clock shadow but is hit and miss depending on the figure's paint applications.

Now, I can show my Indy so you can see what I mean. Problem is IF you do the head swap like me be ready to do a little customizing because the head will be a little loose. Minor gripe if you ask me. I just cut a small strip of clear tape and laid it on the inside of the head and it filled it out a tad so the figure wouldn't resemble a bobble head.

Tomorrow if not Tuesday I plan on spending most of the day uploading some pics so it'll have to wait until then.

see....i got the indy from ROTLA, the one that comes in the golden idol, and i think i like him more then the KOTCS Indy i got the week before.

The other manufacturers did a better job on the statues/12" figures.

What the Hasbro figs suck in for figs they make up for with the vehicles....they kick.

I've got the 12' Indy with whipping action...the likeness is rather good. But what GS said is true...Ford owns the rights to his own image. This is why I have a Han Solo vinyl kit that was molded without eyebrows.

i know that RAH figures are supposed to be like really really good...but the sideshow 12" looks way better to me...

If thats true then why does he allow his likeness on say the sideshow stuff and the Han Solo stuff yet not the regular hasbro Indy figures?

Here's the deal...my fiance is an artist...she went to school for it and they have this class about selling your work. One of the things they talk about is working for Lucasarts and how they have all these stupid rules. But this teacher did a job for them that had Han Solo in it, and so he used the photo of Harrison for it. Yet when he handed it in, Lucasarts explained that Harrison Ford owns the rights to his own image, and his work was too close. So slight alterations needed to be made. The Sideshow stuff is close, but still far from the real thing. I assure you, most things are not 100% accurate (movie posters tend to be an exception)...just look at how much is out there that doesn't entirely look like him.

Lucasarts has other stupid rules. Like anything you do for them is first shown to George Lucas, and he has the option to buy it from you for whatever price you ask. If he declines, you keep your work. But if you ever want to sell it at a lower price, you contractually have to offer it to him at the lower price first.

I ordered both the Sideshow statue and 12" figure. Wait list on the 12". :o

Harrison Ford is a smart man in some ways. Like owning the rights to your own image. Were I in show buisness and did something that were going to be merch'ed forever I'd want to own my own image rights (cha-ching baby :hehe:). In other ways he's stupid, like thinking he can still play Indiana Jones in his late 60's. :whatever:

You can't deny the fact Ford is in great shape for being 66. He can play Indy at his age, what we should be asking is "Can George Lucas write anything decent ever again?" Then again, the series was primarily all about the action. If I get plenty of that, I'll say I got what I came for.

Keyword: 66. Doesn't matter how great his physical condition is. He's still a 60 something old fart playing a role he's 10 years too old for. :down I can't that load of crap. I'm against Harrison Ford ever playing Indianna Jones ever again. They should have recast. I'm never watching this movie, ever.

Whatever. Millions of people will see it anyway, so you're little protest is pointless and lame.

And btw...RECAST??? Blasphemy. Ford IS Indiana Jones. No one else could ever play him.

Sorry if I'm coming across harsh, but you are, after all, posting in a thread this will most likely be filled with people who support Ford playing the character even at this age, and are very excited to see the new movie. You don't like it, fine, but like I said, your choice not to see it will boil down to jack ****.

Pointless yes, lame no. Secondly ANY actor is replacable. If you think otherwise, your wrong.

I must be wrong as well... no other actor can play Indiana jones.. thats like recasting Han Solo, Charles Xavier, Luke, Leia, The Godfather, Hannibal Lecter... etc... you can't do it.. prequels yes... but otherwise there irreplaceable and iconic characters where the actors defined them not always the story.

Oh, well excuse us, Mr. High and Mighty. I forgot your word is the only word. Give me a break. I'd like to start a poll and see just how well replacing Ford would have gone over. Any actor technically IS replaceable, but this is more a matter of "should they?" Ford is the most essential component to the series, he defined the character. No sir, I don't think you get Indiana Jones...and I've seen enough of your opinions on the subject to say that if you say otherwise, you're wrong.

Lars also doesn't like Gears of War and thinks the Prequels are better than the Original.
