What's the deal with the Young Avengers series?

When this book debuted 4 years ago, it was pretty high profile and got alot of good buzz and reviews. Marvel had a winner with these characters and it had a solid premise. After 12 issues, it went on hiatus and never returned. I know the reason for this was that writer, Heinberg had other projects but presumably was going to return to write another volume. Its been years now and it hasnt happened? Is Marvel still waiting on him? Im really surprised that they'd leave things up in limbo like that instead of getting a new creative team to pick things up. Are there any plans to bring the team back in an ongoing or is their status still up in the air?

As far as we know, Marvel is still sitting on its thumbs in regard to a Young Avengers series. Stature and Vision 2.0 are featured in the first arc in Slott's Mighty Avengers and may become part of the permanent cast.

The Young Avengers Heinberg run was a good solid comic story.

The book should have been made an ongoing under a different creative staff.

Marvel seems to think of the book like it was "Watchmen" or something and choose to keep the characters and book in stasis.

It is just another example of Marvel coddling its talent, a guy who will NEVER commit to being a full time comic writer.

Yeah, it'd be great if they got the message. At least they're letting Slott use Cassie and Vision, Jr. on the Avengers now.

Probably one of the biggest plot twists from that series was Speed and Wiccan possibly being Wanda's kids and them going off looking for her, completely dropped by the hiatus. Now she returns and they are in limbo. I hope this gets picked up over in Mighty

Technically, it was covered in the Young Avengers Presents: Wiccan one-shot. Tommy and Billy found Wanda, but she made some cryptic remarks and they were left as confused as when they started.

Slott's confirmed that Wanda's going to be on the final team in Mighty Avengers. It's pretty much just her and Hank Pym that are confirmed for sure at this point.

They didnt really find her though. That issue ended off with them speculating that she isnt dead but out there somewhere, not wanting to be found.

I thought the lineup was already settled. Isnt it, Hank (hate the new Wasp codename) Wanda, Stature, Vision, Hercules, Jocasta, and, US Agent?

Nope. They're the team for the first arc. Slott's said that not all of them will remain on the team after this arc is done and that there may be some surprise characters in the first arc who don't start out as members but who do wind up on the team afterward.

Oh ok, gotcha. Good thing Hank and Wanda are confirmed bc they are the only 2 of this current cast that I really care for. The rest Im either not too familiar with or not interested in

I hope Jocasta, the new Vision, Cassie, Hercules, Cho, and US Agent remain on the team as well. It'd be like Avengers West Coast on a bigger scale.

I pretty much want every single character to stay on the team permanently. I love the roster as is.

I'm guessing that if anyone ends up leaving it'll be Tony (which makes me sad).

I really don't see the Hulk sticking around. It's possible, but it seems really unlikely to me.

It's funny how nobody mentioned that the Hulk himself is a founding Avenger, even though they made such a big deal about Hank being one.

I hope he does. He's a classic Avenger to the core, and the team could use a down-and-dirty sort of guy to balance out the vastly more heroic roster.

im not even really a fan of Avengers (even though ive been keeping up since CW ) and i like this roster. easily my favorite cast of the 3 book. i hope they all stay.
