Not sure what took me so long... but I really enjoyed it.

It's a fantastic read, and while [BLACKOUT]the ending is fairly soul-crushing[/BLACKOUT] it certainly leaves a lasting impression. Classic Hemingway.

I've tried reading The Trial twice and still haven't managed to get through it. It's strange because I generally enjoy Kafka's shorter work, especially The Metamorphosis. If I'm not mistaken there's a lack of quotation marks which perhaps derailed me a bit. That was two years ago, though, I'll probably try again soon.

I've tried reading The Trial twice and still haven't managed to get through it. It's strange because I generally enjoy Kafka's shorter work, especially The Metamorphosis. If I'm not mistaken there's a lack of quotation marks which perhaps derailed me a bit. That was two years ago, though, I'll probably try again soon.

In my edition there wasn't a lack of quotation marks, but there was no breaks in speech or thoughts and it all kind of runs together at times. Though the edition I have is an older one from the 70s I believe (I got it off eBay and it's nearly falling apart). It was a good book, but just not really what I was expecting from what I've generally heard about Kafka.

I plan to check out The Metamorphosis, though

Kind of gave up on The Terror. It wasn't bad, and was well written and all that, but I just couldn't get interested in it. I was really only interested in the captain's story and I even found myself skipping chapters about other characters, and that's no way to read a book.

Finished Planet Of The Apes. Good book, though I didn't know the twist was actual similar to the one in the Burton flick as opposed to the original film. Personally I liked the '68 film twist a little better, but they are both good and bring across the point.

Starting Straight Cut by Madison Smartt Bell. Literally picked this up for a buck in a local stores bargain bin. Never heard of the book or the author. Decided I'd give it a blind shot

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan

Finished the whole series (5 books) in two weeks. Very easy read as you can see. Next Harry Potter no doubt, definitely more enjoyable. Chris Columbus is actually directing the first of the series entitled The Lightning Thief, which comes out February '10.

Oh I was just reading that. I finished books 1-4 in about 4 days. That Riordan is a sneaky devil. He basically read the Harry Potter books and used them as a template for his own books minus the depth.
