The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro & Chuck Hogan. Great book. It was a nice, fresh take on the vampire genre. Can't wait to read the next book in the planned trilogy, whenever it comes out.

Next up, The Name in the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I've heard a lot of praise for it, so I'm looking forward to delving into it.

Finished most of Casebook of the Black Widowers by Issac Asimov. It's all short stories so I'll go back and finish the latter of them later.

Not starting on anything solid yet. Going back and reading some short stories from Phillip K Dick and waiting to get the last Potter book

The Yiddish Policemen's Union and The Final Solution by Michael Chabon. Chabon has often defended genre/plot-driven fiction in the literature community, and these two books back up his position that said fiction can be of equally high quality to more "literary" works.

im starting to read Joker

The Laughing Corpse by Laurell K Hamilton
A great sequel and definitely better than Guilty Pleasures. Hamilton balances vampires and zombies in this story as well as give a new take on the zombie genre ( for instance being bitten by one won't turn you into one). It also gave us a more detailed description of Anita's past as well as how she goes about living her life on her own and dealing with a passed on family "gift".

Lover Unbound by J.R. Ward
Recently heard this was her most controversial novel in the series thus far, and I gotta say I know why after reading it. However, didn't stop me from enjoying it . While not as gritty as Lover Awakened, Vishious still had one hell of a past that most would probably be driven to insanity if ever pulled out of it. Out of all the novels ,Vishious's story was the one with the most mystery and it was well worth the wait. The ending left me a little baffled but I've come to appreciate what the author did for his character. Also showing how far a mother would go to sacrifice for a son she never got to raise.

finished The Grapes of Wrath. now i'm almost done with To the Lighthouse.

Not sure if I posted this already or not but finished Twelve Kingdoms: Sea of Shadows. Currently reading Pagan Babies by Elmore Leonard

A Confederacy Of Dunces. Perhaps, one of the most perfect novels i've ever read.

10/10

Tyrannosaur Canyon by Douglas Preston. Pretty good if you like Crichton-esque novels.

wow. you've never read them before!? :wow:

oh, they're just fantastic. give Dorian Gray a whirl too. and if you haven't read Dracula and Frankenstein yet...well, you best get on that one too.

deciding between Catch-22 and I, Claudius. leaning towards Catch-22 since i've had it sitting on the shelf for longer.

I'm making my way through the Harry Potter series. I'm currently on Chamber of Secrets.

Well, back in February I started reading the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. I am not that into Stephen King but a friend of mine kept bugging me about how awesome these books were. So, he let me borrow his copies and I finally made it to the last book (actually about 3/4 of the way through the last book now) and I really don't see what all the fuss is about with the series. The Gunslinger was pretty good and kind of hooked me in. The Drawing of Three was pretty good and got me further interested. I got to The Wastelands and I just yawned and yawned through the thing. Wizard and Glass was an even bigger borefest. I was going to stop there but after reading four of the seven books I figured I could at least finish it to see if poor Roland makes it to the Tower. Wolves of the Calla was all right though it seemed like I needed to have read previous Stephen King novels to get some of the subject matter. Song of Susannah was all right and, so far, this last one seemed pretty good. I enjoyed the way Stephen King kind of broke the fourth wall and everything.

This just doesn't seem like my cup of tea. Not really a waste of time but you seem to have to REALLY like Stephen King and really like the character of Roland to want to enjoy these books.

Though my girlfriend is a very big Stephen King fan and she told me that The Dark Tower books are a horrible way to get into Stephen King. She gave me The Stand and Needful Things and told me that those two should get me into it.

I give the Dark Tower series a "Meh".

Just finished a Spot of Bother by the great Mark Haddon and starting to read once again two of my childhood favourites Through the looking glass by Lewis Caroll and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain.

I'm taking my sweet time with this one. Haven't finished it yet, but it was the last book I picked up and read.

The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan - extremely reminiscent of LOTR, I'm now on book 2 of the Trilogy and about 140 more pages to go.
