Goodkind's awesome.

True to that.

I liked the first 6 books of his Sword of Truth series. After Faith of the Fallen, it just became such a chore to read his books that I lost interest in what happened to any of the characters.

Pillars of Creation is the first one I didn't love, mainly because 90% of the book was spent away from Richard and the rest. Started Naked Empire last night though.

You'll love how the series ends if you ever get there. There is a tie to our world, Richard reaches full power and on and on. Oh, and Goodkind's new one "Law Of Nines" was good too, came out 2 weeks ago set here in the US but does tie in to the SOT series.

Naked Empire is another crappy book. Goodkind either ran out of ideas or became insanely self indulgent or both after Temple of the Winds. Faith of the Fallen was the only good book released after that, until you got to Chainfire. Soul of the Fire, Pillars of Creation and Naked Empire were awfully written.

Star Wars "Darth Bane: Rule of Two"

didn't like as much as i loved the first one but it was still okay. can't wait to read the next one coming out at the end of the year. "Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil"

Yeah, I can't wait. It's actually gonna be sad finishing it... I've been reading the series the entire summer. I would've already finished, but I'm getting them from the library so I have to wait a while sometimes. I put Law of Nines on hold too... judging from the cover I figured it was a different, modern story.

Different Seasons, by Stephem King.
Just finished Apt Pupil, and man, while parts of it were a chore to get through, it all came to an intriguing yet frighteningly real conclusion. The last couple sentences in that story were just amazing to me for some reason.
Starting the story "The Body", aka "Stand By Me". It's ok so far.

The Will to Whatevs: A Guide to Modern Life by Eugene Mirman

I'm a huge fan of his stand-up and this book is just as good.:woot:

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream by Hunter S. Thompson.

Walt Disney: An American Original by Bob Thomas.

When You Are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris

I'd say it's his second best collection after Me Talk Pretty One Day.

if we are counting textbooks then
Nation of Nations

Paranoia by Joseph Finder - Not a bad thriller once it gets going, the lead character is not as interesting as he could be but overall it's an enjoyable book with a good twist, weak final page though.

House on Mango Street. Meh....

DMZ: Friendly Fire

Pretty good. Never cared for the series 'til now.

The Algerine Captive by Royall Tyler

I absolutely cannot recommend this whatsoever for entertainment... but it is kind of interesting from a historical point of view.

Stardust by Neil Gaiman. The story is not really my style (not a crazy huge fan of fantasy), but Gaiman is one of the best writers of the last twenty years, so I pretty much gobbled the story up.

The 13 Clocks by James Thurber. Something of a delight. Neil Gaiman could learn a lot from Thurber.

Watchmen. After which I immediately watched the film. The book lived up to the hype, I felt, despite how it tended to drag on at times, especially during the pirate parts, but it all came together and clicked in the end, so no harm done and I came to appreciate the writing in those portions quickly enough. The movie, I loved, despite its glaring flaws for the reasoning behind them balanced them out, but that's another topic for another place and time.

Currently reading my long-neglected So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish. Last read on the bus today. The humor and plot picked up in no time, even though the last time I read it was, like, eons ago. That's the stuff of great writing, there.

Just bought it, used -- haven't read a page yet. It's for a class so.. I'm going to hate it

The Hellbound Heart, by Clive Barker.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Really, all the praise this book gets is deserved.

Haunted by James Herbert

I'm currently looking for the sequel to it named The Ghosts Of Sleath in libraries and bookstores but to no avail.
