It's more of a drama than an action film and treads well worn ground, but Taraji carries the film well and Danny Glover provides good support. It has a pretty decent shootout finale and a great soundtrack. 7/10

I Kill Giants

Felt kinda meh on this. It's a coming of age movie mixed in with fantasy elements like Dungeons & Dragons. I thought Imogen Poots and Zoe Saldana were really good in here. They pretty much elevate the material. The cinematography and the effects on the giants were done really well. It's got that feel of A Monster Calls as you're watching it. My only problem with this movie is the main protagonist who is pretty much a bratty obnoxious teenager even after they reveal why. She never really redeemed herself and because of that it hinders the movie. A Monster Calls has a similar plot and I thought it did it way much better than this did. Overall, it's just average.
