Ending would have been better if they'd had the guts to really
let Jill Roberts kill off Sidney and made Jill the next "hero" while Gale and Dewey eventually figure out the real killer.

Hell of a lot better than Saw.

Scream 4 - 9/10

As a huge Scream fan, it lives up to the first two and delivers after all these years of being missed from the horror genre. I'm glad they waited for this past decade of horror films to have an identity. For better or for worse. Just like the horror films that made the original possible, it applies here too. With such a brilliant opening sequence onward, it takes cues from the original and today's string of horror, remakes and reboots, yet spins it on its head in unexpected and satisfying ways. To me, there is more dark and sick irony here than any of the Scream films thus far. In short, the wait makes this film's ideas and the outcome even better. Williamson is back thank God, and it's never been more welcome. The dialogue is still sharp and witty while Craven works his cross of spills and humor in a good mix. The returning characters haven't lost their touch while the new characters are all likeable and have personalities. Pennetierre being one of the best new cast members. And hot too. And by the way, all the females are hot.

The suspense still matches with the others. And the mystery and mind boggling questions of who is really who is better than ever. This is a true mind **** with the characters.

This doesn't feel like a cash in. Of course sequels are made for bucks, but this feels like an effort to make something of quality and make us believe that they made it for just that purpose, like any good sequel. But it still reminds us why you must respect your former generations and the original. It does all of this. It takes a Scream film to get me out and see a horror film in theaters for the first time. If they make another one, that will be my second horror film I see. And I'm just dandy with that.

From Russia With Love (1963)

Funny to think how different this film would be if made now in the era of cell phones and the internet. :cwink:

True Lies

The last truly great film of both Arnie and James Cameron for me.

4/5

SAVE YOUR MONEY. This isn't at all scary (but they make up for not actually having anything scary by having loud, scene-destroying violins play every time they think you should be scared)

Bad acting, terrible script, crappy effects (and the main demon looks like a cheap Darth Maul Halloween face painting). It's just a boring, predictable, not at all scary or thrilling turd of a movie.

^^ Good to know you liked Scream 4, man. It really was fantastic, and it proves Wes still has his edge.

Scream 4

4/10

The good:

The movie brought back the gore of the original

Hayden P's performance was fantastic

Neve did a pretty good job considering she had nothing to work with

The Bad:

The movie felt scattered

75% of the time I was either bored or kinda bored

80% of the humor fell flat

Too much humor during the death scenes

There were too many characters and you didn't even care about 99% of the new ones

All of Courtney Cox's scenes were the worst in the movie. Also her newly plastic face takes away from her performance

Dewy had nothing to do

Sydney didn't have much to do either and just stayed in a house

The movie wasn't scary or suspenseful

Too many call backs to the original

The acting was mostly either eh or during the end just bad

The dialogue wasn't 25% as good as the original or even Scream 2's

The killer or killers plan was stupid

The movie looked like a soft focusy romantic comedy and it acted like one too sometimes

And...
Sydney's long lost cousin being the killer reeked of lazy writer and her explaination as to why she did it was hazy and laughable. Yet another relative of Sydney is crazed killer? Yeah right, they did the same thing in Scream 3, it didn't work then and it doesn't work now.

I'm not disappointed though because I didn't expect anything.

This was way better than it had any right to be, and in fact I thought it was pretty awesome. Kinda grating during the first 30 minutes as some of the characters are even *****ebaggier than normal for a low budget horror flick but once it gets going it goes fast and even has a pretty cool finale. Felt A LOT like a Stephen King story. Not exactly terrifying, but very entertaining. Also the directorial debut of Kaare Andrews, who's work you may have seen gracing various Marvel Comics covers over the years.

I give it a

Thankfully I'm not the only one who hated it other than Hayden. I'm also glad I'm not the only one who felt the motivation for the killer was laughable.

I wonder if this isn't just a procession of nihilism. Anyway, depressing as hell.

I just watched Altitude because Whiskey Tango's description got me hooked enough...the girls were hot enough and the danger good enough to get me through the ridiculousness of it all. Not a great film, but I've seen worse today.

^Childeroland, I've yet to see any Harmony Korine. One day I'm going to stay home from school, have a marathon, and see if I feel like living after that. Watched a few minutes of Trash Humpers at a friends house back in September...eh...

Uncle Boonme Who Can Recall His Past Lives - 10/10

Let me with a similar feeling in my stomach after Eraserhead in 7th grade. Loved it.

Mars Attacks 2/10 can't belive this was made or that Tim Burton directed it
Starman 8/10

Command Performance and Icarus

Three uninterrupted hours of Dolph Lundgren slaughter.
