The Adjustment Bureau
Based on the short story Adjustment Team written by the late, great Philip K. Dick,The Adjustment Bureau is definitely one of the most romantic adaptations of his work.
What makes the romance in the film work is the electric chemistry of Matt Damon
as David Norris a politician aspiring to be a senator, and Emily Blunt as Elise an aspiring
dancer/choreographer.But they are kept apart by the aforementioned bureau who intend to guide the two away from each other.
The film starts off lighthearted and is quite humorous as David comes in contact with the
adjusters/angels portrayed with humor and class by John Slattery and Anthony Mackie.
I liked how the adjusters/angels attempt to keep David in the dark for the most part
but also keeping the audience in the dark. When David asks questions he's never truly given a solid answer, and thats what keeps the film interesting.
But of course when a film or a books subject is fate, destiny, free will your bound to run into a few plot holes and inconsistencies.I was also hoping for a bigger payoff at the end of the film.
But TAB is a very entertaining film with a strong love story,Damon and Blunt make you feel for their characters who make life altering choices all in the name of love
