OK, at the start of SV, they used great actors that were part of the Superman legacy: Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, Terance Stamp and Annette O'Toole. Now they're using Dean Cain and Helen Slater?! WTF? They were both s*** and contributed nothing to the Superman legacy. Whatever. I dont know why I'm all that surprised.

Its all your opinion. I grew up with lois and clark and the supergirl movie so i am thrilled they will be on the show.

Yup, your opinion. I liked Lois & Clark and I like Dean Cain, so, I'm happy he's going to be on Smallville. As for Helen Slater...while I didnt like the movie (although as a kid I might have liked it. I dont remember) I'm excited to see her in Smallville, aswell.

I was more of a STAS kid, so I would much rather see Clancy Brown, Tim Daly and Dana Delaney on the show.

Agreed, Lois and Clark gave us the wedding between Superman and Lois so thats something very big there that Cain and Lois and Clark contributed to Superman.

I actually liked "Lois & Clark" during its original run, just because it was Superman on TV (pre-Smallville, remember?). I caight a few reruns maybe a year ago, and to be honest, Dean Cain is okay as Superman, but his performance works more often as Clark. It'll definitely be interesting to see him on Smallville though; looking forward to it.

As for Helen Slater, I didn't realize until just a few years ago, how many people actually hated the Supergirl movie. Yes, its corny and a little jumbled...but so are the Christopher Reeve films, if you actually pay attention. Even the classic comics are filled with various "holes" over the years. I still love Goldsmith's theme music for "Supergirl, and it'd be very cool if they'd use some of it for Helen's scene(s). You can find the title sequence at this link, to listen for yourself.

While Helen Slater has had her moments, she was in possibly the worst movie Russell Crowe ever made, No Way Back.

That film was complete dreck. I don't think anyone could have sold that mess and she and Russell both did alright, considering what they had to work with.

I'm curious how she'll do with a better script perosonally. Anyone that could hold their own and be better than that material is okay with me...

Oh, now that she's working with Tom, that makes me two degrees removed from Tom again.

I've seen Russell Crowe in person and he worked with Helen Slater who will be working with Tom.

;) :D

Dean Cain is still the best Clark Kent. His Superman was crap, but his CK was great.

They'll get to them eventually.

I agree with this 100%. Dean and Tom are very close in being the best CK, IMO.

So voicing animated characters contributes more to the legacy somehow?

No argument from this peanut gallery. I really like Dean Cain. L&C was... eh, but I liked the cast. And Slater, while nuthin' really special as far as I'm concerned, is a nice nod for fans. So I'm down with both. :D

The supergirl movie was bad but I liked Helen. I met her at Metropolis this summer and what a delightful person. She even knew the movie wasn't well written but she was very gracious about her costars and the whole experience. She stated at that time she would loved to be on SV. In fact TW4supes has a tape of the entire interview on line somewhere, where he askes her about being on the show and she said she would love to. Hey, TW4supes, where is that clip....why don't ya put up a link?

Personally, I think they were both wonderful and contributed quite a bit to the superman legacy. It would do you some good to honor those who worked so hard to contribute to that legacy instead of spewing your own **** on that legacy by even saying such a lame ass comment.

In doing so, you avoid us. *a tear* :p

It does when said animated property is one of the better interpreations of the character of the 90's, and also when all actors involved are in fact fine actors in their own right.

To be fair, I don't think there are really any "big" actors left from the Donnor films that are both a.) realistic to sign for a television show (I'm thinking Hackman is out) and b.) recognizable enough for general audiences to realize why said actor is more than just a guest spot.

Agreed , His Mild Mannered Reporter : Clark Kent is still the best version. His Superman was Bull****, but his version of Kent was SUPERB !!!! . :super:

Since when does it have to be recognizable for general audiences? what happened to throw backs to the fans? Why does it have to 'appear' to be more than a guest spot?

At the end of the day it doesn't matter because the show is about Lois and Clark. Superman is there cause he has to be.

Hatcher and Cain had good chemistry, but I never liked his regular Clark Kent. The bumbler is how I imagine Clark. Never seen the Supergirl movie all the way through.

really? it gets better as it goes through. the argo stuff at the start is hard to get through because kara acts like a five year old despite looking 19. I think it ends on a high.

i think dean cain and helen slater will be good additions to season 7...personally, i'm lookin' forward to seeing them in the show. if anyone has watched las vegas, i thought dean was good in that as a cocky billionaire, would make a good rival for lex (if that was the role they were gonna use him in).
