Whats YOUR favorite movie?

I'm too stubborn to realize that opinions are not facts...coming from the guy that says you're too narrow-minded to see it if you don't feel Singer's films have depth...

Seeing it is different than liking it.

I have tons of posts pointing out that film quality is a subjective issue. The only time I'm not respectful of opposing views, is when the person I am debating with is not. I extend people the same courtesy in a debate that they do.

So you're playing the "well they started it" routine? How petty and childish.

What's a waste of time to one is enjoyable to another. I find it a waste of time to watch his films, you enjoy them. I find it enjoyable to bash his films, you enjoy watching them.

So you can't live with me enjoying something you like? You're very tolerant. Rather than say you don't like his movies, you say they have no depth and he's a horrible filmmaker. Again, very petty.

Except watching Singer's films affects no one but himself. With your bashing, everyone is subjected to it, and honestly, after the thousandth time, it can become quite annoying.

And hey, while I loved Superman Returns personally, I have pretty mixed feelings about Singer. The X-Men movies were really nothing like the comics and TV series I grew up with and made me love the characters, and I really think The Usual Suspects was lacking...something. ...so it's not like I'm particularly a fan of Singer's either.

Not nearly as petty and childish as starting it in the first place. I tend to treat others as they treat me, if you find that petty that's your business.

Sure I can. I have no problem with you enjoying something that I don't like. I never said that I did.
It's not petty, it's an expression of hatred for the man as a filmmaker. Others aren't required to share it, but I'm hardly going to sugar-coat the way that I feel when I express my viewpoints.
It's no more petty than thinking he's a good filmmaker that makes films with substance.

How'd you ever do it?

Your candles only burn for eight days, but Bill O'Reilly flames year 'round. :(

We regrouped during the day when he "rekindled."

I would say, "Went back to his coffin and dreamnt of devouring the souls of children," but he'd sue me. :o

I didn't say you were a fan of him, and noone that doesn't want to be subjected to what I have to say has to be.

You can easily just not read my posts, or put me on ignore if you find me annoying.

You seem to have a problem since you don't seem to let up on bashing Singer. We get it, you don't like him.

You are being petty. You can't say you don't like his work, you have to say he's a horrible filmmaker. That makes it seem like everyone who likes his work has bad taste.

I can think he's a good filmmaker, but I don't expect you to like it just because I think he's good.

I don't think that anyone that likes him has bad taste. I think everyone has their own taste, I don't define it as good or bad.

There was no fact label attached to what I originally said. I find him to be a horrid filmmaker void of a shred of talent. That doesn't mean that others aren't free to like him, or think he's a master of the craft for that matter if they so choose.
As I said previously, I'm hardly going to sugar-coat the way that I feel. When I talk about him as a filmmaker, it's going to be very vehement, because that is my opinion about him. Anyone that finds my repetitive Singer bashing annoying has the option of simply not reading what I have to say.

And yet you come off that way by saying he's a horrible filmmaker.

Calling him a horrible filmmaker and an abomination qualified as one.

No one is sugar coating him here. I never said I hated or liked him. I think X-Men and SR are good, but they certainly arent without their flaws.

Calling him a horrible filmmaker and an abomination qualified as one.

No, it qualified as a statement. You may have thought it was meant of fact, but that's not the case.
If I'm discussing a subjective issue (as film quality is) I don't feel the need to label my viewpoint as opinion, since it automatically is one since the issue is in fact subjective.

I didn't say you were.
If I loathe something, that's going to show through when I discuss it. I'm not likely to simply say "I don't like it" because in the case of how I feel about Singer, that's not nearly strong enough to convey how much I detest his work. To simply say that I don't like it would be sugar-coating it.

Oh, I know. I just wanted to make sure my intentions were clear. That I, effectively, had little, or no, bias in the matter.

Y'know, twice on these boards, straight to my face, I've been told I was hated. Not annoying, not disliked, outright hated. How did I respond? In both situations, actually, I said "is it my fault?" I thought, is there something I can do, to make myself more hospitable for my fellow...whatever? Think about that. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have something boilling on the stove.

I'm generally not one to care much how others feel about me.

I am who I am, if people like it fine, if they don't, so be it.

In response to the thread question, it's a tie between...

return-of-the-king.jpg

  • The Shining
  • Snakes on a Plane
  • Kill Bill: Volume 1
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
  • Jurassic Park

You can't possibly make me choose.

There's a difference between saying you don't like a film and saying the filmmaker is horrible. The latter implies it being a fact, regardless of your intentions.

No it wouldn't. It's what you say, not how you say it that matters. To be honest, when you say things like he's a horrible filmmaker or his works are an abomination, it reflects very poorly of you.

It's not about caring what people think of you. It's about caring about how you affect others. :o

No it doesn't, it merely expresses the viewpoint of the person saying it. The difference is how strong the disdain is. I find his filmmaking to be obscenely bad, that doesn't mean I look down others if they like it. Different people like different things. Trash to one is treasure to another; but again, I'm not going to sugar-coat my hatred for this man as a filmmaker.

That's your opinion, if you wish to think poorly of me that's up to you.

Again, anybody that finds me annoying or just doesn't like me for whatever reason can very easily disregard my posts or just put me on ignore. You don't have to be subjected to what I say if you don't chose to.

Taxi Driver
or
Mean Streets
or
Raging Bull
or
Blade Runner

Barnone this is my favorite of all time.
