JAWS
Paranormal Activity 1 and 3
Shadow of the Vampire

They Live

:lmao: You get scared watching 'They Live'??!!

That movie...man, to me that movie is a sci-fi comedy.

edit: I think the premise could make a good scary movie, but the way it is played there...I would say it is mostly played for laughs.

eh, i guess my fav is Scream.

Yeah, its not really a horror flick. I just decided to lump it in there.

The Crazies
The Sixth Sense
Poltergeist

Solid choices. I especially like The Mist.

I love ones with a crazed killer hunting people to kill, or murdering at random:

1. I know what you did last summer
2. I still know what you did last summer
3. Scream
4. Scream 2
5. Scream 3
6. Cut
7. Friday the 13th 1-4
8. Final Destination 1 & 2

Well, my favorite horror series (as you can probably guess by my avatar) is the original Alien trilogy. The 4th movie is okay, but it's not of the same quality as the others and is really more of a black comedy than anything.

Aside from that, I love quality haunted house flicks. The Haunting (the original), The Innocents, The Changeling, The Others, The Devil's Backbone, and The Orphanage are some of my faves. Lots of The's there. :oldrazz: I think The Shining is okay, but I've never been a big Kubrick fan and I much prefer King's original story.

I'm not a huge fan of gore, so there aren't many slashers that I like, but I do love Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Trick 'r Treat.

As far as movies that actually scare me though, there aren't many, but The Exorcist and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre get me every time... so if we're just talking about scare factor here, it would be a tie between those two.

I also can't ever let October pass by without giving The Rocky Horror Picture Show a watch. It's just too much fun!

I can't view Alien series as horror, I tend more to classify them to the action/thriller genre

These are films i actually find scary/creepy/eerie ect......

The Exorcist.
Evil Dead.
Halloween [original].
The Ring [remake].
Alien.
Paranormal Activity series.

These are "scary" movies that i don't find scary at all, but are still great films...

Bram Stoker's Dracula.
The Shining.
A Nightmare On Elm St [original].
Poltergeist.
Scream series.
The Mist.
Dark Horizon.
Aliens.

Ju-on
Ringu
Poltergeist
Jaws
Trick 'R Treat
Nightmare on Elm Street
The Fourth Kind

A Tale of Two Sisters
Audition
Suspiria
Memento Mori
Whispering Corridors

Alien
The Thing
Halloween
Nightmare on Elm Street
The Shining
Jaws

I would say Aliens, but I count that more as an action more than a horror.

Horror, Suspense, and Other Creepy Stuff:

Alien
Jaws
Vertigo
Rope
The Silence of the Lambs (probably the creepiest movie I've ever seen)
Seven
The Thing (Carpenter)
Halloween (Carpenter)
Shutter Island
Blue Velvet
Perfect Blue

Horror Comedy, B-Movies, and Misc.:

Evil Dead II
Army of Darkness
Shaun of the Dead
Zombieland
Planet Terror
From Dusk Till Dawn
Near Dark
Dead Alive, from the kung fu priest scene onward (it's a little slow before that)

aye, sorry, i didn't mean to take the piss so much as i just found it really funny the thought of someone watching that movie and getting scared, lol.

but, aye, that crazy ex-goalkeeper turned so-called son of god and researcher into shapeshifting lizards, davd icke, once said that The Matrix, the original tv series of 'V', and They Live are the best representations on film of what is really happening in the world today, so i guess that is kind of scary, haha.
I would also throw Planes, Trains and Automobile sin there, trying to get a taxi sometimes is a frickin nightmare, but it sometimes works out for the best if you don't manage to get one, haha.

28 Days Later still scares the crap outta me.

I want to also add to my list:

Jeepers Creepers
Jeepers Creepers 2
Mirrors
Psycho
Pet Sematary

That movie wasn't scary at all, but I guess I could see how it would've been in the 80's.

The question was "What is your favorite scary movie?" not "What is the scariest movie?"

Besides...
