There are books we discuss that are lauded and books we discuss that are lambasted. I want to know what you read on a regular basis that you might not be so quick to review in the B/T threads. Or maybe you don't even include these books in the Diamond List threads. But for some reason known only to you, you enjoy them. Maybe it's the artwork. Maybe it's the character you grew up idolizing.

Me, I'm a sucker for Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane. I love the classic feel of old Spidey stories and the bright artwork by Miyazawa, Hahn and Strain. One of the best Spider-books I've ever read. In my opinion, of course.

I've also made no bones about my enjoyment of Loeb's Wolverine run. Not big on the character, but I am big on Loeb's characterization. It's the best in the business. Again...in my opinion.

So what about you? What's your Marvel Comics guilty pleasure?

The GLA..GLI...GLX..specials, mini-series and one-shots. Got real soft spot for those gems, I have a unhealthy obsession for Paladin, Union Jack, Solo, Sabra, Kasper Cole and Blue Beetle I see a cover with them on it I have this uncontrollable urge to buy it.

Right now though, I don't know. I don't particularly feel guilty about any of the Marvel titles I read. I guess it would probably be Ms Marvel or Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

I wouldn't have thought you'd be into Spider-man loves Mary Jane.

It's called a guilty pleasure for a reason. Though, I haven't bought or read like the last 9 issues or something.

Hudlin's Black Panther, I know the writing is ok but I love Black Panther

No, the writing is ****ing horrible. Don't sell it's suckitude short.

The Strangers in Paradise guy is gonna write it now so you got that to look forward to.

Ya wussy..

At this point I consider X-MEN: FIRST CLASS a guilty pleasure. Considering that while I enjoy it for it's simplicity, I won't say it is the most essential Marvel comic. Considering there are books I haven't read for various reasons ("He reads X-MEN: FIRST CLASS but not CAPTAIN AMERICA!? What a moron!"), I sometimes have had to defend it's place on my pull list.

XMFC it's not a bad book, it's not on my regular pullList but it's a ok read, I see books like that as being guilty pleasures.

It's only a mini, but not too many people are reading SPIDER-MAN & The FANTASTIC FOUR, which also qualifies. It's written by the same writer as XM:FC and shares that simple, old-school sort of thing and has nothing to do with what either franchise is doing now (much as X-MEN: FIRST CLASS in no way resembles what the X-Men are doing now aside for the fact that 4 out of 5 of them are still alive).

FRESHMEN would probably be another, but that's not a Marvel book. :p

You younger kids wouldn't know the character-but I always liked when the "fabulous " Frogman showed up in a book. His dad was former Daredevil villian-a serious character in a silly ass suit. he quits being Frogman and the suit stays in a trunk until his 20 year old doofus of a loser son puts on the suit and tries to fight crime! Every crime he ever busted up was inadvertant at best. he tried to joinn the New Defenders, the Avengers, and be Spideys side kick. he was pathetic! but i kinda enjoyed his odd appearance in marvels 80's books. kinda comic relief. he guy had the dopiest costume!

Eugene rocks! I loved the Spectacular Spider-Man issues where they fought the White Rabbit and the Walrus. *snicker* I need to dig those out of storage...

There was also a pretty good Frog-Man story in one issue of Tangled Web, can't remember the issue #

I didn't know you read Ms. Marvel...

And as for SMLMJ, I actually like Hahn's Peter and Flash better than Miyazawa's. Although, I think Miyazawa does a great MJ.

How does that make you feel?

I don't know. On the one hand, it makes me think there must be something redeemable about that book. On the other hand, it might just further the fact that you have bad taste.

I think it's a little bit of both, actually.

A redeemable book, and a poster with bad taste. Sounds like the title to a bad Harry Potter book, oh wait, they're all bad.:o :o :o

Bring it Potter fans, bring it!:cmad: :cmad: :cmad:

It's not the best book out there, but I especially like the Simon/Carol interaction and it shows a more human side to Carol. She's trying her best to be the best but it's not an easy road. Oh, and MODOK.

I remember when he teamed up with the Toad and Ollie Osnick to become "The Misfits"

Glad you guys remember him. He needs some new appearances. Marvel takes itself too seriously these days. and Eugene is just what the doctor ordered. hHs New Defenders appearances were funny. I'll have to check out the Tangled Web appearance...thanks all! we need to form a Eugene Patillio: Fabulous Frogman Fan club-uh-or not...YEAH! the misfits- old ass Toad, Spider Kid, and Frogman.priceless!

I like the Mini-Marvels when the compile them in books.

-Shogun Warriors
-Anything with Solo, Paladin, the Forgotten One, or Moon Knight.
-Darkhawk
-Nova

Forgot to mention Power Man & Iron Fist and Heroes for Hire.
