Is anyone familiar with the Wheel of Time books and whether or not there are any adaptation ideas?

i did hear rumours actually about a film, still in the writing stages though...

Aren't there like 12 books? I see some editing being done if they make them into films. It does seem like a good story to bring to film though, so who knows. lol.

12 books and more, I see no way they can make it a movie. It's just too long and would have to be at least 6 or more 4 hour movie to do it I think. No studio would back it, be a bit expensive

No 11 books
the 12th is still being written. it's the final one too.
Now there are of course a prequel but that really doesn 't count.
Also Robert Jordan have become Ill, so the series might not be finished at all.

If they adapt this huge series I think a series or mini-series for tv is the way to go (just like they seem to plan to do with George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire). Personally I have become to really hate the Wheel of Time books after reading the first six books. The story is in my opinion just too big for it's own good. The last couple of books I read felt like 1000 pages and absolutely nothing happens.

Oh yeah, plus the books suck. I don't think there's enough dark haired, dark eyed, short women in the world to play all the female characters.

What you mean it doesn't count? The prequel part of the story

it's not really part of the series nor really needed, in some ways, you might get deeper into the story with it, but you can just start with the eye of time.

Are the books worth reading and what exactly are they about?

no, they suck. go look on amazon. the reviews are horrid. read a game of thrones instead. unless your under 17. they might be a little too much for you.

I agree.
A Song of Ice and Fire is AMAZING!
I'm reading it right now and I'm hooked on it.

They suck? Hardly, I admit the last few books got me a bit bored but love the first 6 or so

You like how the story doesn't progress until the last 100 pages in every book? Or how all the girls look and act the same (brown hair, brown eyes, they hate men, cross their arms). Or how the books are 400 pages too long. Or yeah, the stupid names like Suian and Tanchico. LOL. Let's not even go into how he blatantly ripped off Tolkien.

You do know Robert Jordan is a hack that's just spitting out books because his publisher know stupid fans will gobble them up right? Really, 11 books at like 1000 pages each? Who really needs that many books?

Don't waste your time with Jordan. Read Martin instead. You won't go back.

I like long books, being a fast reader anything under 200 pages wouldn't take me long to read

Each book of the A Song of Ice and Fire are longer than 800 or so pages, so read them:cmad:

Haha, what a weird blast from the past thread this is.

Rick Selvage, Larry Mondragon, Ted Field and Justin Smith will produce
That is suspiciously close to Lan's name hahaha
