When are very old threads deleted?

There are thousands of old threads on the hype. Most of which have not had a new post in years. Will they be deleted eventually?

Because they take up space. Imagine how slow this site would be if we kept everythread ever? My solution would be to start a new site called superherohypearchives.com and if a super old thread interests you, you could out it on here.

I'm still not sure whenever threads are deleted or "retired". Cause you can still pull threads out by looking up the thread starter.

I think it's probably done sporadically when the time is right, old threads and members that haven't posted in a significant time are deleted, probably after around a few years of absence...

none of my earlier threads from 2003 are around but everything i've done since then is traceable.

i take it the next batch of history erasing is probably due any moment now...


oh and when a film or sequel to a franchise goes cold, so do all the threads of that board etc....so its not always on a long time basis.

Frankly if a thread is 3 or more years old and never had more than 3 posts in it... I think it can be safely deleted and doesn't even need to be archived.

However, I'm not sure if that qualifies as option 1 based on the way the original question was stated or not.

This is another of those polls that could use a wider range of options.

Archiving is better than deleting. Very old threads should be locked so that they don't get bumped.

Generally we dont delete threads.
We did a little cleanup during the last Forum upgrade from VB2 to VB3.

Generally speaking, the speed of the site is NOT affected by how many threads their are.

Old threads aren't deleted. They are brought to the country where they run and play in a huge field all their own.
