Webb and Stone have basically confirmed that they're killing off Gwen sometime in this series. When do you think it should be done.

option 2 doesn't make sense and for the very reason why they took out mj in asm2

At this point I just think its likely that it will happen in TASM2. Also, the death of Gwen storyline is supposed to happen in three stages: death of captain stacy, death of gwen, and the final showdown. So it makes sense for it to happen in this film (TASM2).

Have already analyzed this in my thread titled "the Scene Gwen Stacy Died".

Here is the breakdown...

The series was first defined as a three movie deal. That means that they developed the general plans of the story of Peter and Gwen over three movies. Yes they have expanded to 4 movies, with possible off-shoots, but the main plot is probably the same, especially since Andrew hadn't been signed for a fourth.

So let's break down the overall plot for Peter and Gwen.

Movie 1

- Peter gets his powers
- Peter gets involved with Gwen
- Gwen finds out about Peter's powers
- They fall in love
- Peter makes a promise to the dying Captain Stacy not to put Gwen in danger
- Peter feels guilt about putting Gwen in danger and breaks it off
- Peter can't keep that promise because he loves Gwen too much

Movie 2

- Peter and Gwen's relationship develops. They fall more in love.
- Peter continues to deal with the difficulties of his alter-ego.
- Peter realizes the threats are becoming greater.
- Peter and Gwen graduate and look to the future.
- Peter must deal with the biggest threat yet.
- Gwen dies.

Movie 3

- Peter must deal with Gwen's death.
- Peter must deal with the guilt of her death.
- Peter must seek revenge for the death of Gwen.
- Peter must deal with an even bigger threat
- The "series" must end with the hope for Peter and the future (MJ)

So, with that all said (and I know I didn't cover every little detail) it makes the most sense to kill her at the end of thre second movie.

Even then, there are two ways to handle it. The movie could end with her death, causing a huge emotional reaction with the GA anticipating the next movie.

Or Peter could deal with Harry, the cause of Gwen's death, making Norman the big bad (and posibly new Goblin) in TASM3.

I think I would prefer to keep Norman as the mastermind behind things (meaning, not making him into the Green Goblin at all), with the Sinister Six (brought together by or because of Norman) in TASM3. If they end the second movie with Gwen's death and possibly her funeral, but not having a secondary battle with Harry-Goblin after the battle with Electro, it causes more emotion. This also leaves Harry-Goblin, an already established character, to be in TASM3 and possibly part of the Sinister Six.

I think TASM3 should take place a year or two after the second film, and MJ's role should be Peter's friend that helps him cope with Gwen's death.

It should and will be done in this one.

I think it is a given picard. but who knows, perhaps asm3 will start off after asm2 and the time of the whole movie will span a year, developing peter and mj's relationship

It seems really odd that MJ would be introduced after Gwen dies to help Peter, since she doesn't know Gwen or Peter before that.

Why is it odd? If she meets Peter and becomes friends with him, she is more than likely going to help him cope with his loss. Whether or not she knew Peter or Gwen at the time of her death is irrelevant.
