So, I've been debating with some of my friends about this question, so I want to pose it to you all.

When is The Avengers 2 coming out?

The Avengers movie date was announced, like, the day after Iron Man along with Cap and Thor and IM2. Of course, Thor was supposed to come out in 2010 and Cap and Avengers in 2011... but that was corrected rather quickly. The point is, we know IM3 and Thor 2 are coming out in 2013 and Cap 4 and GOTG in 2014, but we don't know about The Avengers or Marvel's movies for 2015 or 2016. I'm not blaming Marvel or anything. Heck, if anything, this makes anticipation for the movie higher, but I think it's worth debating when it'll come out.

So, when is The Avengers 2 coming out? It's obviously not coming 2014. Will it be the sole movie in 2015, making it a respectable 3 year wait? Or 2016, the same wait we had for the first Avengers, with two still unannounced Marvel movies on their way in 2015? What do you think?

I'm thinking Summer of 2015. Before or after the Ant-Man movie.

Hopefully after, because I really want Hank and Ultron to be in Avengers 2 and I don't mind being in the minority.

Yeah, I'm hoping we get Ant-Man before Avengers 2.

I voted for 2016, to give Joss some extra time to prepare, but I wouldn't be surprised if they released it in 2015 either. 2016 would give them a chance to release a few more films (Black Panther, Dr. Strange, Ms. Marvel etc.) before Avengers 2.

I believe that there'll be pressure to get Avengers back in theaters as quickly as possible --- i.e., 2015. Face it: 2013 and 2014 are going to be characterized by post-Avengers letdown (there's no way in hell that Ant-Man, GOTG, or the sequels to Iron Man, Cap and Thor are going to generate box office numbers even close to Avengers), so by the time 2015 rolls around, the cries for "where's Avengers 2?!?!?" are going to be pretty deafening, and Marvel Studios risks missing the boat if they put it off for another year of solo films that generate half (or less) the revenue that Avengers 2 would.

2015. Holding off the main course for more appetizers at that point would be ridiculous. A house salad won't satisfy the GA when they're ready for prime rib.

Iron Man 3 arrives May 2013. Thor 2 is November 2013. Captain America 2 is April 2014. They have nothing officially scheduled after that.

I still want The Incredible Hulk 2, or we can have Iron Man 3, Banner teams up with Stark as a scientist on breakthroughs, but for the final battle, there's a need for both Hulk and Iron Man together. Doubt that'll happen, since Iron Man can carry the whole thing, but it would be a good fit for Banner/Hulk if they're not confident about him helming a whole movie on his own. I'd like to see at least a few friendships forged without ignoring what happened in these movies only to have them reunite for a sequel.

I feel putting more than six leads in the next film would be a mistake. The film seems packed with storylines; any more, and you run into problems.

**** The Avengers 2, I'm personally more excited to see IM3, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier

I am convinced that one of the unannounced movies will star the Black Panther. It is a perfect way to expand on the marvel universe with Wakanda and at the same time weave all the other characters together for a much anticipated Avengers 2. The previous Captain America movie had a major reference to the Black Panther. That can't go neglected.

By the time TA2 comes out in either 2015 or 2016 (any later than that, and nobody's even going to be paying attention anymore), there will be *several* major new players in the MCU. Even we don't know exactly who, or how many. But they WILL be there. And general audiences will be EXPECTING them to join the Avengers, because that's what the Avengers do, in both the comics and the movie(s).

You run into far MORE problems if TA2 comes out after all that, and you try to dig up just the same six characters from TA1 instead of spicing it up with all the new blood.

I hope for 2016, gives them more time and space to release and introduce other characters for Avengers 2

Fans of Avatar don't even have appetizers, they will have to wait in least 3 more years for the sequel, and the original was already released 3 years ago :yay:

There's a difference between sequels to individual movies, as opposed to one-offs and spinoffs that are vaguely related to each other.

Good for them. They're also getting 3 consecutive sequels.

    Avengers 2- 2015.

So, what's your point? That it is best to wait 5 years for the next Avengers movie because James Cameron is doing that for an unrelated franchise? 2015 is plenty of time for a quality product to be released. They already know where the story is going, so they have the starting point of the script already. Now they have a couple years to iron it out before filming it.

    Your point makes zero sense.

I really don't care for Ant Man. Stark already brings everything to the table Hank Pym would. Keep that guy out of the Avengers. Some characters work... others don't... at all.

I say keep the same cast from Avengers 1 through Avengers 3, with some cameos of other characters in 3.

What? YOu think a space racoon works better than a guy that can change his size?

Yes, but Rocket Raccoon wasn't a member of the original cast from The Avengers.

But he's going to be done to film. You said Ant-Man doesn't work on film, however a Rocket Racoon is being used for a film
