World When you heard of Spider-Man

Who were the first villains you had ever heard of?

well, thanks to Marvel.com the first ones i had ever heard of were:

Doctor Octopus
Mysterio
Venom
Sandman
Green Goblin
Morlun
Morbius
Kraven
Calypso
Carnage
Scorpion
Rhino

and it was about in that order... i remember the days when i was like 6 years old playing with a Doc Ock toy and thinking him, Venom, and Mysteio were the only Spidey villains out there... boy was i ignorant... anyway, then i went to Marvel.com and found out about Sandman, Green Goblin, Morlun, Morbius... and i was reminded of Mysterio. and i was shocked... then i went to Samruby.com and looked at the villains page and then i near about passed out. :P

Probably the Green Goblin. Girls growing up aren't usually directed towards comics, so my only previous superheroic expereince was from watching "Lois and Clark, the New adventures of Superman" as a kid/teenager. Until the Spider-man movie, I though Spider-man was really creepy. And since the Spidey movie featured the Goblin, that was the only villian I knew of at the time. then Electro, from the old old cartoon that was on TV around the same time..um..Sandman, and then Doc Ock from the second movie.

Its a tie between Doc Ock and Venom.

Back when I was like 3 or 4 (somewhere around 91-92), I got this Spidey toy, with the black web.

Seeing this pic on the back of the box introduced me to Doc Ock and Venom, as well as Cap, Punisher, and Dr. Doom. I already knew about the Hulk from reruns of the 70s live action show on SciFi.

the first exposure I had to Spider-man was, I think issue 7 of Maximum Carnage, and I thought Carnage was the bad guy, and I thought Spider-man and Venom were teammates LOL...ah yes, ignorance...
