the budget for this movie was huge so where the hell did all the money go? It doesnt look like it cost 400 million to make. So what gives?

no movie ever made cost 400 million. The most spent on a movie is probably 250 million.

It didn't look like it cost 400 million to make, because it didn't.

I think it was around 200 million or so, including marketing.

150 w/o marketing.

Where did it go too?

Um...

Golden Gate Bridge sequence
Final battle
Beast prosthetics
Mystique prosthetics
Juggernaut prosthetics
Storm special effects
Colossus special effects
Iceman special effects
Phoenix special effects

It went a lot of places.

I'm sure a fair amount was spent on having to renegotiate with all of the actors . . . the rushed schedule doesn't help either. They had to quickly find replacements for the number of integral creative team members that left. Also, special effects (which the movie heavily consists of) cost a lot, especially when they have to be done within a relatively short timeframe.

the effects were ok but I would expect more for the money they threw around. They skimped on alot fo things too.

Poseidon cost about the same as X3. $160 million.

The major difference being X3 will make back it's budget and then some.

First of all, by using a number like $400 million you're taking any relativity out of this thread b/c you obviously just pulled that number out of somewhere! At most, the production budget was in/around $150 million, and if you can't tell where that went, then you weren't watching the movie my friend! How about CGI in nearly EVERY scene! Mutant powers from EVERYONE, the friggin' DANGER ROOM' scene alone probably cost 10-15 million to make! the end sequence? proabably 30 million. actor fees, special effects, makeup, huge set pieces, mansion rentals, suits, props, and everything RUSHED to meet a may 25 deadline? if they made the budget at $150 million they should be rewarded... the rest would go to marketing all over the world, but i NEVER heard anything around $400mil.

a lot of it possibly went to the actors' salaries too, and i dont mean the big shots. this film had so much actors in it and not just mere extras.
