Okay, I've seen Civil War a bunch of times now, and it just gets better and better.
My favorite cbm of all time is the Dark Knight, and I put Civil War on a very similar level, it's fantastic - totally Marvel's Empire Strikes Back.
I don't like Cap or Iron Man, but this film was so good that I really got invested in their struggle. That scene at the film's climax, where Tony watches his parents' murder - I mean RDJ brought his A-game, just the expressions on his face tell the whole tale, and the music hits a nerve - I actually find that scene (the murder) tough to watch, because its quite
brutal and callous, but also because we see Tony's reaction - and the
revelation that Cap knew, the betrayal...... it's really emotional stuff,
on the same wavelength as " No, I am your father."
Also, Zemo, best cbm villain in ages - understated and understandable, terrific !
So, in terms of my top 5 Marvel films, Civil War sits at number 1 !
It's a tie for 2nd, between Iron Man (which is one of the best origin films of all time) and Dr Strange ( also one of the best origin films, which has the edge in special effects but I rank RDJ and Cumberbatch's performances as roughly equal - although the characters are pretty similar).
Back to Civil War, I can't believe they fit so much in but juggled it seamlessly ( I mean "Spider Man" and Giant Man, come on !).
